RE: My latest acquisition

That's 24 cars per case times 10 cases. 240 cars.

Of course not.
It just looked like none other.

RE: My latest acquisition

Now that is a really good picture. Should be more like it after the race.

RE: My latest acquisition

I've invited the photographer to come here and tell us more about the photo and the event.

RE: My latest acquisition

Hello everyone,

I am the photographer that took the picture of the Batmobile. I hope I can give details about it but I don't have that much to share I am afraid.

The picture was taken on Sunday morning at the Nurburgring circuit in German where it was currently hosting the latest round of Formula One. I first saw the car on Friday morning on a stand in the circuit with a promo picture behind it of 'Batman Begins' and was going to get around to taking a picture but never did. It was there by itself, no guards, promo girls nothing. So on Sunday I was sitting in my grandstand a couple of hours before the race when the car appeared on the grid and did 2 laps of the circuit. It was not going to fast, I guess something like that you can't go driving like a manic just incase it falls apart or it breaks down.

As for why it was there, your guess is as good as mine. Either it was made in Germany or it currently uses a German engine (BMW or Mercedes). But for it to just make an appearance for no real reason it was quite strange.

The only thing I really tell you is that when it brakes the little wings at the back pop up to give it extra downforce. When the car then accelerates the wings drop down again. In the picture which I took you can see them 'up'. In the bottom picture you will see that like the old Batmobile there is a 'rocket booster' thing. That shot out flames when it started and then again when it came to a hault.

In order for the car to turn well (because lets face it, with massive tyres like that its not going to) it has to tilt into the corner.

Taken by me

Not taken by me

That is all I can say about the car I am afraid, sorry its not much. If you have any questions then please do let me know.

Regards,
Alex

RE: My latest acquisition

Thanks a lot Alex, I appreciate you taking the time to tell us about that. I didn't know how the "wings" worked, but it's interesting to know that there is a promo car out there with working wings and afterburner.

"It was there by itself, no guards, promo girls nothing."
Man, I wish one of us were there with a camera! Opportunity missed...

Just to remind everyone, a 12" x 8" print of this photo is available -HERE-. I want one, but I just realized that now I may have to compete for it. Maybe Alex will set a "buy it now" price and make several available.

There are a ton of photos out there of the Tumbler, but this one really stands out..

RE: My latest acquisition

Didn't you read the Art of Batman Begins?
I think it mentions how the spoilers worked

RE: My latest acquisition

Got all 110 magazines.

Just skimmed through most of'em.

Apart from 2 Cinefex, I don't see anything that we haven't already seen.
Only thing I see new it is the shot of batmobile with the batarang compartment opened.

I may have to just pawn it off to someone more interestd in Batman in BOTB or something.
