RE: 89 Rims

Yes, they are Centerlines. I forget the exact name of the specific wheel, but they still are available. The tires are Mickey Thompsons. I'm not sure of the sizes, but I'm sure Jack does and he's probably typing your answer now...

RE: 89 Rims

No life? I have a great life, thank you. If I had no life, my go-cart would have been finished 9 months ago...

RE: 89 Rims

Hey Dan,
Jack is probably on his way home from work, so check back after while or email him directly. I'm pretty sure he told me before what the sizes were but I can't remember off hand.

Good to finally "meet" you, by the way...

Tim

RE: 89 Rims

Yes the rims are centerline, as for the with it all depends on the frame you aer using. You need to measure the depth of the wheel well to the hub to get the proper offset for your vehicle. I used 1" offset on the rear and 3" on the front. That is using a 10X15 rims.

RE: 89 Rims

I meant 'no life' in reference to the frequency of post and visits to here.

Anyway, I love getting wealth of information from the likes of Kevin and Jack like above post.

RE: 89 Rims

Hey Dan, well it's like Kevin said it all depends on the frame you used. Pay close attention to your lug pattern. The older (74 and older) Impalas had a 5 on 5" lug pattern. The newer Caprice and Impalas have a 5 of 4 3/4" pattern (I think). This is important because Centerline does not make the Auto Drag wheel in a 5x5" smaller then 10.50" width.

As far as correctness goes. The car in the pictures that Dan provided have the following set ups:

Front: Mickey Thompson Indy Profile S/S L60-15. As per Mickey Thompson's website that tire would work best on a 7 to 10" rim size.

Rear: Mickey Thompson Sportsman 33x21.50 15LT. As per Mickey Thompson's website that tire would work best on a 15 to 18" rim size.

The Jay replica in Tallahassee used the same front tire but the rear was a bit smaller:

Rear: Mickey Thompson Sportsman 33x19.50 15LT. As per Mickey Thompson's website that tire would work best on a 14 to 16" rim size.

Just and added note the Mickey Thompson Sportsman are a bias tire and require a inner tube. Bias tire are not really a good street tire. They do not respond to water very well.

For The Gothic I chose to use a Hoosier Radial tire for the rear. For rim size I will be using and 15X14 for the rear and a 15x8.5 for the front. I will be using wheel lug adaptors to make the lug pattern 5 on 4 3/4" pattern. As far as back spacing goes I am going to have to re-measure once the body is back on the frame.

Good Luck. PS love your car so far.

RE: 89 Rims

I don't mean to sound like a jerk, because that is not my intent. But I do not think this is Dan Rodriguez we are talking to. I might be wrong here, but Dan has a different e-mail address and he usually contacts me to find out info like this for him... In fact, I spoke to him earlier on the phone and he did not mention posting here.

Sorry if I am wrong here, but this Dan might be the owner of ANOTHER replica featured on my site? (If I am wrong Dan, shoot me an e-mail from your main address. If I am right, which replica is your's, Dan #2?)

RE: 89 Rims

Hey Guys,
Sorry about the confusion. Justin is right, I do usually call him regarding information on my car. Justin, I was browsing through the 89 web site, and I noticed that, these guys really know everything about the 89 car. Guys, thank you for all the information, and keep in touch.

RE: 89 Rims

Yup, it is indeed Dan! He called me today. lol. Sorry about the paranoia.... There are a lot of people out there who are trying to get info for devious purposes or who just want to cause trouble. Didn't want to see Dan's name dragged through the mud. He is a great guy. Welcome aboard, Dan! <---- HE OWNS BOTH OF THESE!!!!!
