The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

That's it right there folks. AMAZING. My entire life has culminated into this one moment! I am the happiest I have ever been! The movie was awesome, and that is coming from someone who had a lot to say about the Tumbler, the costume, and even the cast. ALL DOUBTS ARE GONE! So many great quotes and scenes, I am not sure I can even remember HALF of them!

One fave: "You're not the devil.... You're PRACTICE!"

Man, there are so many more. FINALLY someone did a Batman movie that does absolute JUSTICE to our favorite hero. I can't wait until you all see it!

PS - I kinda miss the Bat Nipples.

RE: The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

Hands down, the best batman movie. Seeing it was one of the greatest experiences of my entire life. No exaggeration.

And I hate to say it, but Bale is Batman, not Keaton.

RE: The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

Just in.....

Ohhhh how good was that??!!!

I walked out of the cinema with my 10 year old feeling 10 again.

The cinematography was fantastic, the fight scenes shot from the bad guys prespective blew me away!

Ahh hell, I am on a major high!

And the tumbler, hell, what a vehicle. I want one!

RE: The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

Now that I have had time to sit and think about what I have just seen, a few things that come to mind...

Lots borrowed from Frank Miller's comics.

Katie Holmes didn't do much for me. Last scene she was in seemed forced.

Liam Neeson bad assed bad guy. Kinda reminded me of Alan Rickman out of die hard.

Gary Oldman is James Gordon from the comics - gee he even looked like Frank Miller's Gordon. Morgan Freeman was just what I thought Lucis Fox should be and he made me think of Q out of the James Bond flicks. Michael Cain, whilst not the image of Alfred we all know, was brilliant - he had lot's of great lines and kept Bruce together. Cillian Black didn't do much for me, but my son said later that he was creepier than he expected the scarecrow to be.

Christian Bale, if he can pull off a sequel, will be my Batman of choice. He gets it right as the tortured soul, the rich " who gives a rat's arse" playboy and of course the as dark night.

The backstory was fantastic explaining why and how the dark night and weaponry came to be.

Overall a good night out with my son and as I said before I am on a high and feel like I am a 10 year old again. I think that I have bored my wife silly the past couple of hours recounting the story with my son. As for my little guy he wants to know when we can go and see Batman Begins again!

RE: The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

Woudln't call it the best. It was definitely good but I can't decide which one is better. Burton's or Nolan's

Burton once said early Batman script was exactly like that of Superman and found no difference between Superman movie. And he scrapped that reworked the script with Hamm to bring Batman right into the action and show origin in flashback.
Obviously Nolan took the que from original superman movie and turned it into batman movie. Bale was good but I thought he had no expression as Batman. Everytime they showed Bale as Batman, it seemed as if he's constantly sucking on a lemon

Awesome movie everyone should see but I'll probably find myself rewatching burton's dvd in future.

Tim or Jack? You guys seen it yet?

RE: The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

The more that I think about it the moew I am liking Bale as Batman.

Is Bale the best Batman? I'll give Keaton his dues, Bale gets the best gear to work with in this movie.

Bale's voicing of Batman voice sounds funny at times as does some of his expressions (Baneful's sucking a on lemon), I think this is due to Batman's maturity as a crimefighter. He is still learning how to be The Dark Knight.

This also has to be the first time I've seen a Batman onscreen that's not easy to work out Bruce Wayne is also Batman. ( Does that make sense??)

The costume looks good too, first time aside from Adam West where I have seen a flexable believable costume. There are some fantastic parts of the film that go into the explanation of how all the weponary works which explains it all to the new bat fan a little, but adds a lot to making Batman beliveable. Let's say I am one happy camper today! Bring on the DVD!

RE: The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

that's my other problem. i don't understand why they needed to explain all the gadgetry. this is not james bond. this is batman. the whole explanation of gadgetry was pointless I think. Imagine if all the gadgets for the batmobile in BR was explained by Alfred?

It was an awesome movie no doubt about it. i'm just nitpicking that's all

RE: The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

I guess in explaining it all might demystify it a little, but adds a lot to the whole credibility of the Batman.

Tell you what I did miss though was Talia!

RE: The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

just for once i wanted ras'alghul to call someone, 'Detective'!

RE: The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

Yeah I missed that too. My son picked up on that and mentioned it last night.

So who would you have had as Talia? I reckon Anjelina Jolle!!

RE: The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

The weapons were explained because they were being explained to Bruce Wayne at the same time they're explained to the audience. They're not explained in BR because there's no reason to explain them.

RE: The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

The thing I respect is that the movie was geared not only towards the hard core fan, but also to normal folks. I took a couple of girls in my big group and they really didn't want to go, but I dragged them along. After the movie they were all like "holy crap! That movie was awesome!"

So the movie as an individual piece was credible, and the explanations behind all the cool toys make them acceptable to the non Batman crowd.

RE: The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

I give it a great big thumbs up myselfe !!

Bale and Keaton were both fine Batmen, Keaton has a true inner darkness, but didn't get as good a script OR back story to work with. Bale had large shoes to fill as the first serious Batman to come along in over 12 years, and had the high tech filmography to back him up, as well as the clear explanations to the audience, as to how, and why he suddenly has the capabilities of a hero, instead of being just joe-vigilante.

On the other hand........ GOTTA LOVE THE 89 BATMOBILE !!!!!!!!!!

But they did a GREAT job with the movie, and my girlfriend and I will be going again tomorrow night.

I did love the fact that this time they left the comic action scenes behind, with the childlike sillyness they stuck number 3 and 4 with.

Sequil Here We Come !!!

RE: The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

Just came from the movie.

Movie was great.

But at the end of the day, I still like the Burton one. Bale was good but it seemed he was forcibly moving his lips too much. And is it just me or does anyone else think they distorted Bale's sound to make it look cool?

As for tumbler, I was a bit disappointed. Maybe b/c I saw too many clips already but like Baneful said, the car seemed so generic. Not that it's not extra ordinary but it just seemed like a car from James Bond movie with Lucius acting as Q. And how do they explain the tumbler smashing into walls and freeway dividers when it's got no fender or ram in front except for two tires?

And boy was Katie Holmes ugly? She had the same lazy eye and twisted lips Alicia Silverstone had going.

Anyway that's my rant for the night. I was afraid I might like the tumbler too much and was even considering closing down this site and opening up a Tumbler website. But for now, I'll still keep the After Hours club open till end of the day.

Bottom line, everyone should go see it in theater and give props to Nolan for reinventing the franchise.

RE: The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

And Justin, this thread title is wrong. It's not the best batman movie. The 89 batmobile driving to the batcave with Danny Elfman's Descent Into Mystery still kicks trolls' ass all over Tumbler's chase sequence

 From: Aussie_batman | Posted: 6/17/2005 1:03:38 AM |

RE: The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

Heartily agree that the decent into mystery kicks arse, but remember that this is a different, younger Batman. The cave isn't as defined as caves we have seen prior so I guess that the same applies ro the cave entrance that we all know and remember. This Batman needs a vehicle like the tumbler to enter and exit this cave. The 66 0r 89 just wouldn't cut the mustard.

RE: The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

Oh and BTW, there was an interview with Katie Holmes on TV down here last night that was supposed to be promoting the movie, instead we got 5-10mins of Tom Cruise worship. If she started talking about scientology I was gunna lose it!!!!

RE: The BEST damn Batman movie, PERIOD!

I realize now thinking back, for a batmobile, tumbler really didn't have much gadgets.

And the sliding cockpit just to fire few burst shots seemed very impractical. Much like a bullet proof Clooney car with open cockpit and open engine compartments.
