How would you imporve the look of the car?

How would you imporve the look of the car?

If you were able to change the looks, what would you change to improve the look of the car?
Dont' get me wrong, I think the car is perfect as it is.

If given a choice, I'd like to see:
- flip headlights
- bigger fins on the back
- take away the ugly windshield wipers
- more than one afterburners

I would leave it just like it is my friend.

RE: How would you imporve the look of the car?

The car is a classic, you can't improve on it. The trick would be to make modifications that look like they belong on the car. I think it will be a fun challenge to make it street legal. Pop-up headlights seem to be the way to go. Finding a shape that looks good will be the callenge. Standard 80's firebird headlights are close but still looks a little out of place. Custom pop-up mirrors would look good if they were done right. A rear view mirror would be fine if it can see through the vents adequately, otherwise a rear mounted camera could be tapped into the monitor on the passenger side I suppose. Converting the existing lights to turn signals/fog lights and using the side vents also would look real good, I think. If the "Returns" wipers could be made operational that would be fine since that would keep the car "movie authentic". Hydrolics for ground clearance would be the obvious solution there. Making a licence plate look good on the back would be a bit of a challenge but I don't know all of the parameters there. So what am I forgetting?

Tim

Hey Tim, what other goodies do you have? :) Any more images, drawings, or ideas you will be adding to your site anytime soon. I tried to gain root access to browse your image folder, but no luck. :( Oh well, it only works on some sites. You know I think you should use that domain for ALL things '89, not just go-karts (although the go-kart IS super cool!) We could create an entire BUILD page, complete with photos and resources for the amateur batbuilder.

Yeah, I plan do do a lot more with it. I'm really interested in the build aspect of the car, whether it be the originals, the showcars or replicas. I guess that will be my niche. Things could get really interesting after November.

RE: How would you imporve the look of the car?

dont knwoa bout ever state but front licence plate is lawyas gonna look out of place, what im doing is adding a removiable cross bar, that way when im using it to drive the cross bar is on, but if im just showing the car off, i can take the cross bar off. other then items that make the car street legal. on the outside i would leave the car alone, beisde adding some neon underglow, like some have and neon back afterbuner.

RE: How would you imporve the look of the car?

Does Texas require a front plate? So does Colorado. Tennessee doesn't and neither does Florida.

RE: How would you imporve the look of the car?

Putting one on the front really would be difficult to make cool. I'll have to give that one some thought.

RE: How would you imporve the look of the car?

the only way i thought of that looks cool could get wb down on u even more, that was deisgn the bar to have a bat symbole in the middel and the lcines plate would fit into that, so i decided to scrap that idea, and just do a reg bar, but latly ive been thinking of having the bar broken in the middle so u could hit a switch and it would slide out form both sides to connect in the mid. another idea ive been thinking of late is since the car will be higher off the ground make a attacment that would fit on the front intake tunnel and just have it sitting there. if u can visualz that...it makes perfect sense in my head.

RE: How would you imporve the look of the car?

yea thats close to what i was thinking in the last idea. only im not sure the linces plate is to scale, lol. it would actuly ahve to set up a little higher 2, not to high more like in the center of the edge where u have it.
