Cool Batmobile Replica Pics

Hey there everyone! Check out the 1989 BATMOBILE page on my site for some new additions. Among them, a new replica found (well, its not new... It is just new to me). It is not completely accurate. It was hand built from scratch, and LOOKS VERY COOL! The seat is even autographed by George Barris.

RE: Cool Batmobile Replica Pics

Very nice Job. but I would not be happy with it.

If I make or have a batmobile made it has to have the cockpit hood or the hole thing just will not work for me.

But i have to say very nice work and I hope you enjoy the lawsuit.

just kidding

RE: Cool Batmobile Replica Pics

I'm not too worried. What's the worst they can do? They will likely send me a cease and desist order soon. But what will I be ceasing? Showing what other people have done? I am not building anything myself, nor am I making ANY money off of my site. And I don't see how they can go after Striderx, since this is an open forum and SHOULD be protected by the first amendment. Hey, he has no control over what we say here.

Barris and WB made this same fuss back in the sixties, and what could they do? They sent several C+D orders to the builder of the #5 car and they STILL coulnd't take his car. And yes, I know there have been some 89's destroyed in the past by WB. Oh well, let them destroy my site. :) I'll build a new one and keep reporting. That is, until they have my family executed mafia style and my dead dog left on my doorstep. Then I might get a little creeped out... Hmmm....

RE: Cool Batmobile Replica Pics

Does it matter that the car is signed by George Barris or not?

I mean it's freaking 1989 batmobile.
He has nothing to do with it.

Also, it's just me but I'm not too fond of George Barris.
From what I know, the guy will just about give Proof of Authenticity(As in actual batmobile used in the production) to any '66 Batbmobile replicas for small(?) commission.

RE: Cool Batmobile Replica Pics

well they have gave c&d order for websites befor but in everycase it was much diffrent, the batcave is a fan site that has no illleigal amtiral on it there for is protected, the guy is who built the above batmobile is also protected it is save to say that he change the deisgn a lot mroe then 30% which give it his own creative license although he still cant sell em, only thing that hurts him is the bat logo, the reason why barrase couldent hurt that many people wtih the 66 is he used a exsiting car body to build upon, the 89 batmobile was scrath built, they they can fully call it their own. but logos on a car, big no no, on a fan website tis ok.

RE: Cool Batmobile Replica Pics

I'm sorry, I really am... but I don't like this guy's car. I wanted to like it, I really did. I fully understand the time involved on this project and for that I must give a tip of the hat (or cowl) to him. It just looks very wooden, and maybe this is why warners are so protective of Anton's little treasure. This is the kind of thing they don't want happening, just picture the headline " Joyrider killed in stolen "wooden" batmobile."

Now if warner's were smart they would support the fan owners program by licencing custom shops to build fan cars with a warner record sheet and model number. This would give them a little control on how well built the cars are, and also this would allow the fans to have better quality parts and support available.

An owners club would also be a good idea, so that fans and owners could share information and get together to drive the cars in safe and controlled conditions on a private circuit and raise a little money for charity.

Once again, to the builder of the "replica" I'm sorry, I really wanted to like it.

RE: Cool Batmobile Replica Pics

An owners club would be a great idea, but I doubt it would work. Nate Truman tried to get a '66 owners club together once, thinking that the owners would welcome a chance to form a tightnit community to exchange thoughts and idea, but it failed miserably. The owners are so bitter towards one another half the time, and each owner defends their builder like he is their cousin. I imagine the same thing will happen when the '89 starts getting widely available, because there will be a couple of builders and each will probably defame the others, as it is in the '66 community. These people, by nature, do not like each other.

Of course, that is not to say that it could not happen. Who knows? As it stands right now, most '89 owners do know each other and keep in semi-regular contact. Maybe there will be no blood lost after it becomes more of a business setting. But I am not holding my breath.

RE: Cool Batmobile Replica Pics

I understand your concerns about a lawsuit and such, and I'm no lawyer guru, but if the vehicle is modified enough, there shouldn't be a problem with building this car. My brother is an artist, and he was commenting on copyrights and how a picture could be modified a certain percentage and there shouldn't be any legal problems. Wouldnt the same principle apply here? Also, there is a similar issue with the Mach 1 cars that have been built (speed racer) where the company that makes them makes you sign a contract not to support any kind of activities that would be for profit or gain. Couldn't something like that be done with our batmobile scenario? To own one, but not to use it for personal profit or gain. I guess you could just insist on calling it a limo instead of a batmobile and avoid all the hassle.

RE: Cool Batmobile Replica Pics

Or we can all wait until November and see how the chips fall when the patent expires on the '89....

RE: Cool Batmobile Replica Pics

Can I get an amen?

Cool. I just found out that there is a shop that could possibly build the batmobile for me, depending ofcourse on how things go down in November. I'm going to meet with the owner tonight!

RE: Cool Batmobile Replica Pics

Which shop are you referring to? And how did the meeting go? If you tell me what state it is in, I can probably guess who you are referring to. :)
