RIP

This was a perfectly good 1:18 ...

RE: RIP

What are you doing to it Tim?

RE: RIP

WOW! What have you got up your sleeve, Tim? Hmmmm...
It looks like you didn't mask off the gas cap?

Maybe I should tear apart my 1/18, also... NEVER! I still haven't opened the box!

RE: RIP

I am going to attempt to make a mold of it. I don't need to cover the gas caps, they're fine.

I want to be able to cast copies of it so I can slice them up. I considered slicing this one up but I don't have an reliable and accurate way to do so.

I have five more that are still in the boxes.

Mattel thanks you.

RE: RIP

I just can't seem to leave them all alone in the store when I find them. I actually have now passed up 3. One at a Target and two at Toys R Us...

RE: RIP

Wow. Tim, you have outdone me! I had three. One I gave away as a CAVE prize (dammit, I have to update that again for this month!) One I gave to my best friend (he didn't appreciate it NEARLY as much as I do) and the third I kept for myself.

RE: RIP

Just after 6 coats. This stuff is probably not worth the trouble.

RE: RIP

WOW. Looks like you have a mess on your hands! I can't wait to see how this turns out. You could pull bodies to put on RC cars or slot cars!!!! YESSSS!

 From: Tim | Posted: 3/25/2005 2:25:09 PM |

RE: RIP

Probably couldn't pull bodies for R/C use. I'd probably need to make a proper fiberglass mold for that. I'm just going to use this to make plaster casts that I can cut up. This is really not the right way to go about this, I'm just experimenting...

RE: RIP

Oh man Tim...I wish I had seen this sooner.

I think I might be able to help you with cross sections. I need to open my files first and give slicing a go. Pick a point on the car somewhere where you want it sliced and I'll give it a shot on Monday. It's a file off the full-size Onstar car so it should be fairly accurate.

Is this needed btw for you full-size builders? Are there some mystery surface areas I can help with???

RE: RIP

Tim's probably trying to run an illegal counterfeit batmobile toy replicas.

Look for the above products to appear on ebay near you

Ha ha. "Crappy Plaster Batmobiles - Very Rare - Very Crappy - $300"

Thanks, if you look at the "Fiberglass Fabrication" thread, you will get an idea of what I want cross sections for. Here is a link to that thread. -Fiberglass Fabrication-

RE: RIP

So how did the slicing go? What program are you using?

 From: autoprops713 | Posted: 4/7/2005 1:36:33 AM |

RE: RIP

I'm able to open them in Rhino. The files are .stl

With my work schedule, it's tough to get this done.
