RE: Q for the car/kit makers
I am sorry I was in the Air Force too long, there is no me or I it is all a team effort, so I use we and us a lot. Hard to break old habits, Bob J. contacted me to do the work on his behalf. I did have a lot of help from the owner's son with the molds, I couldn't have done it without his help. Prepping the 66 and the Black Beauty I did on my own.
Like we use to say; there is no I in team.

RE: Q for the car/kit makers
While in the Air Force there isn't much creative room for what we do. Everything is by the book when working on aero space flight vehicles; everything is by a Technical Work Order. When QA checks you out you had better have the appropriate T.O. page and paragraph, index open and be able to explain what step you are on. Or you will be written up and you will have to answer to a higher authority first thing in the morning.
Ask Jack; he is still in the USAF and is in Quality Assurance.

RE: Q for the car/kit makers
Hey Kevin,
You mean you F-16 guys don't just pull the "WOW" breakers like the F-15 crew dogs do?
The only people I've ever actually seen using a TO is electricians making an upgrade mod.
Most shops just signed out the TO's and put the book they were supposed to have in their back pockets in case QA came by.
Damn! You guys are dedicated!
The 16 is a Vette, compared to the Trans Am of a 15.
You're a lucky guy!

I, too, have a question for you guys building cars. I know it's not street legal, but are any of you putting an active afterburner on your cars?

RE: Q for the car/kit makers
I believe someone said that you can't have an active afterburner if you want to get your car insured. It may be street legal or not, but it won;t matter if you can't insure it because of the afterburner.

RE: Q for the car/kit makers
Well this is what I had in mind. There are flame packages that you can set up with your exhaust in which you can turn on/off at will. So perhaps by rerouting the exhaust pipes to come out of the afterburner it may be possible to give the effect of an afterburner, and it'll still be insurable. Maybe using Corvette's center exhaust and putting up some mock exhaust pipes on the outside where the regular ones are/will be.

Beat me to it. For some reason I can't find that pic of your car on my computer, Nate. You know what this means, right? TIME FOR ANOTHER PHOTO SESSION! Or at least a drive around the town.

RE: Q for the car/kit makers
Kory, remember when I said I don't like the cloak and dagger game? How much is a Mark Towle kit and the price for a turn-key 89? Come on just say it, no need for anyone to call if they can't afford it. Now that there is pudding what does the pudding cost? I think you told me $89k for a turn key. How about an "I saw it on CLTC" discount or a kick back to the webmaster?

I was told 65k about 2 years ago. I guess it varies, or maybe it's just inflation.

Mark "a simple phone call"? Really who wants to talk to Kory? Most don't even want to read his post. You could be Wright about the troll.

RE: Q for the car/kit makers
Mark - I asked Kory but I guess I can ask you just as well: Can you please put all rumors to rest and post pics of your '89 molds? Since Kory is telling us that you have them, you obviously aren't shy about it. Or did he mean to say, that you are going to mold the body you have when someone pays for the first kit? If this is not the case, then please let us see the molds. I have pictures of some other people's molds (who wish not to be known), but have not seen yours..... YET. Please silence us doubting-Thomas'.
