Does Batgods post give you the same Idea it gave me? How about an 89 wall are display? He could do an entire side and it could be mounted on the wall. Batgod you have done it again. Where do I send the next check.

That is what I should have made instead of the GC. Would have been a lot simpler. (not full scale)

GUYS!!!!

THREE WORDS (ok... like a number and two words)

89 Canopy Bed

Women love canopy beds, guys love the Batmobile and chicks love the car right?

You can use some of those canopy actuators if your a bachelor and have the 89 shell lower over your queen size bed (King won't fit, I tried once... don't ask) and you won't have to make your bed every day, just cover it with the 89.

Send me pics.

Speaking of pics, It's been brought to my attention that it's been said that Don makes warped piles of shit bodies.

Let me share a little pic with you of one of my client's nearly completed cars.

Keep in mind that I got a body from Don and pulled a set of molds from it (With Don's permission of course)so I could make 66's too. That works well for both of us because I am waaaaaaaay on the other side of the continent and East Coast shipping from Don's is a bitch.

So all the cars that come out of my molds are children of Don's steaming pile of Canadian Moose shit car.

Just like this one.

Damn Don... I don't know HOW you sleep at night you hack. I wouldn't want to embarrass myself with something this UGLY in my driveway.

Would you guys?

(Photo of half naked girl on the hood to be posted after warmer weather. Right now, all you'd get is a girl in a parka that you couldn't tell from Justin.)

Don looks like the ball is in your court. Is that out of your molds and did you pull it and if so why does it look like that?

Everyone else just shut up and let the man answer for himself.....

Mark, I have to disagree. kory did not specifically say but certainly insinuated that he had 89 molds. See below.

This thread is based on 89 molds that MW posted, to which kory said:

Wow that looks like Canada......What do you think??

And

I owned some of those Canada splash molds ...I would know them anywhere.

Kory thanks for your answer about splash molds.

I don't know much, but I also assumed Kory was talking about owning 89 splash molds after reading his post....

CAN I TALK???CAN I TALK???CAN I TALK???CAN I TALK???CAN I TALK???
PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE!!!!!!
CAN I TALK???CAN I TALK???CAN I TALK???
CAN I???CAN I??? HUH???HUH???HUH???

I'll be the first to say, and Don will admit to this whole-heartedly.

THAT HIS PARTS ARE THIN!!!!

ABSOLUTELY!!!! No question about it.

As a matter of fact, one of my nylon tie downs nearly sawed through his body on the ride from Vancouver to NJ.

BUT!!!! (And I wish I could make the font size huge here)

You have to glass in 1 inch square stock on the whole thing before mounting it up to your chassis.

1 inch square stock, that I might add... DON GAVE ME with my kit. Including stuff that was cut and welded to shape. That's what he and I call "his metal parts" which include... UM... all the stuff made out of metal!

Plus, and I can see that the hood flexes just like mine did in that photo.

Justin, you have half a hood, you wanna jump in here?

Don has custom designed an interior fibreglass liner for the underside of the hood with a bat logo in it. Looks awesome when you open the hood and DON'T see metal substructure under there, but instead a FINISHED, SMOOTH custom underliner with a Bat embossed in it.

And you have to glass the two together AFTER you've matched your hood to the chassis properly. Check the photo I've previously included. The hood is nearly the last thing you do in order to make it fit properly.

So in theory. Don's hood is TWICE as thick as just about anyone elses, including Silent Bob's. (YES, I've cross country ferried a lot of 66's for Bob too.)

(But not twice as thick as mine Don, you hack bastard!)

Looking at the photo, knowing you have to add the underliner to the hood and the metal to the body, anyone want to tell me what they see wrong with the pics Mark has provided us? Looks OK to me.

Sorry, had to have a little mouth hemmorage.

Feel free to defend yourself Don.

IF YOU CAN!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Sorry guys, no pics this time, gotta run, have to catch a Jett ride.

RE: Moldy Mold MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMm

I assume glassing in the 1" metal tube and the under-hood would be stronger than a one piece thicker hood. Is the cost less for the thin glass/tube body since you have to do more work than just getting a thicker body? So, it takes more work, but in the end you end up with a stronger striaghter body right??

RE: Moldy Mold MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMm

I knew someone would chime in. Batgod that's exactly what i'm having to do to my 89. Not Don but Yancey's body. I personnaly would rather have a thicker body. Sort of like a bullet proof Batcycle fender. But really when I say the 66 above my first thought was that it reminded me on a friends Tall T kit he just finished. He had to do the same thing and now it's one sweet Hemi powered beast.

Okay Don's turn (again)

Good luck on that Jett...... Hope it doesn't go to fast.

RE: Moldy Mold MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMm

I just bought a brand new car and the whole body is made out of sheet metal! The stuff is super flimsy. Heck, I can even dent it with my fist.

Seriously though, I don't subscribe to the thicker-is-better concept. Don has the right idea with his hood subframe. If done properly, this should be stronger and lighter than one that was just made thicker. Another technique that would be stronger and lighter would be to laminate a core material between two thin layers. This proves to provide a very good weight to strength ratio. The core material itself does not have to be strong. Typical core materials are usually types of foam and even balsa.

RE: Moldy Mold MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMm

BATGOD gets it right again......in the words of kory's illiterate english>
BATGOD IS DA MAN!!!

Now THIN... Ya I like my Chix Thin, as for car bodies that all goes back to the chopper/hand layup debate and I ain't gonna get into that suffice to say all my cars/kits have been 3/16' to a 1/4" handlayed, of those I've 'chopped'
a few and they weighed twice as much as the hand layup....no gain there except more of a bitch to lift. The mass majority of fiberglass hand laid car bodies are the same thickness of mine so why load the car up with unsung resin weight if you don't have too and you don't.
It was the beligerent troll who first brought said 'above' pics of my kit to this sight all under his misinformed mind that they're warped when in fact they're not....this is the same troll that insisted all proper fiberglass molds are at least 3-4" thick!!...now can you imagine that...you would need a crane to lift a batmobile mold into position if that were the case. Of course his 66 kit came out of much thinner Bob Butts molds but he'll never admit to that. There's always a method to my madness...for example that shot of the rear canopy piece is thin for a reason...it gets fiberglassed to 1/2" plywood the fits under the rear canopies...the cowl/ front canopy base sits on top of a steel tube frame, the hood is 2 piece such as God pointed out and rightly so..I could go on and on but I won't...the guys that are honest with themselves already know I'm right:)

In response to Paul's reference to me - yes, I have parts of Don's / Paul's '66 (Hood, Driver? side door, inner door skins, bat phone, etc.), and the pieces seem great to me. Add some steel tubing in there, and BAM! Picture of me walking all over the damn thing.

Didn't I already post this pic of Don's car before when this debate was raging? It is a rare, once in a lifetime event that occured in New Mexico when someone left their Currie car outside one day...

SOLID!

Thanks Don ....and others.... That clears it up for me. Very good answers so all I would add is Mark lets see some new shots of your 89 kits. Surely you have a digital camera handy and an extra 5 minutes. Several buyers out there but they all want proof. Oh and they ant a parts list.

Brin so post some pix already.... Don't be the next voted out of the tribe.

I think most people decide to do that when building their kits... Makes the car more "real" so it can take regular everyday stress better.
