It depends on how you plan to use it. That's the same kind of foam I am using. I will have to find headlights for mine too.

I think you can cover the pink insulation with Kills to stop glass from eating threw.Tim told me about it and worked great for me.

I'm not very familiar with the sandwich method, but with polystyrene foam you have to either use a barrier like Kilz or use epoxy resin. I don't know how using a barrier will effect the sandwich method.

Don't forget to make room for the headlights!

Definately do a test piece first... before you build the part for the headlights.

i would want something a little more powerful than a 3 cylinder 1 litre engine.it just wouldnt be right for a 89 to be passed by a vw bug. hehe

Polystyrene will melt right away, but polyurethane works like a champ. More expensive, but it saves a step and some work on your part.

Uh oh! He don't look Happy. He's been using Brand X. But with new and improved Joker Brand, I get a grin again, and again.

These are 2 honda civics.

This 1 is an 88 civic and the headlights are very close

This is an 87 Civic and the lights are way off

I'm thinking the 88 civic lights.

Just a thought, polystyrene foam ( Amofoam- from home depot works if you shellac it after you initially sand and form it to the shape desired, then you apply a coat of Bondo and finish the part off. I believe after that if you want to make a plug or copy the shape with fiberglass ,the polystyrene foam which is covered with shellac and bondo will not melt. But you have to go with shellac/bondo/ then fiberglass. The shellac helps the bondo bond to the foam and also creates a barrier of protection. This is the way I Fabricated alot of parts,ex: Side skirts and running boards for an 87 5.0 stang.

I've never tried the shellac but I have used Kilz paint. It's a stain barrier primer. I'll try the shellac next time.
