RE: marks molds

Yeah the molds look good but you have to consider the product they were molded off of. If they were indeed molded off of Brin's '89, I would seriously doubt that they are straight or clean. Therefore, the kits that come out of them will be less than desireable.

RE: marks molds

Please do tell about the molds; I am in the market to acquire one very soon. If I am going to spend that sort of money with someone; I need a "straight, clean, and very desirable kit".

RE: marks molds

I can remember Brin “Jeff” telling me several years ago, how his body was warped and asking me how to straighten it out. He also told me of how displeased he was with the body.

RE: marks molds

I look forward to seeing it myself and I don't see why everyone has to be so quick to call it crap just because Mark made it. If it's crap, it's crap and soon we'll find out, otherwise you just sound like you're trying to be an ass.

RE: marks molds

No Tim - it is not just a stab in the dark nor is it just me being an "ass". Much of what is known in this industry is known from what people have witnessed and passed on to others. How many Batmobiles have most people on this board seen in real life? Not too many I would guess. But we all have opinions on most of the ones shown on this board, true? Why is that? Because the people who HAVE seen them tell the tales so that we all might know the truth. Or for amusement, one...

At any rate, my information comes from a couple of people who HAVE seen the body in person. As well as the fact that it is a piece of fiberglass that OBVIOUSLY sat in the dirt for years outdoors, exposed to the California sun and the elements. So unless this thing was completely redone VERY RECENTLY, there were little improvements to be noted since some of the people last saw it (at LEAST two members of this board, and one on Eric's board - not counting Mark, have seen it in person and commented on it to me). Oh, and not counting Brin. He said once that he only told Kevin that the body looked like crap and was warped because he "knew Kevin was speading around the information" that he was giving him, so he was just feeding Kevin BS to see if he really was spreading it around. Sooooo, WHY does that make sense? You know someone is spreading around whatever you say, so you TELL THEM the body is warped to test your theory? Sure...

Another note - which molds did Brin's car come out of? Bob Butts' old molds? Because I know for a fact the condition of those molds towards the last couple of bodies that came out of them. When did Brin buy his body, and from whom? Because unless it was one of Butts' EARLIER bodies while HE HIMSELF was still selling them, then it came out of warped molds to begin with. So you see, my comments are not simply hearsay and unfounded rumors. And it is not simply me being a jerk. I just don't feel a need to write ALL of what I just wrote to make the simple comment that I made. And yet, here I am writing it!

Now, one more note in Mark's favor - he might not have molded it off of Brin's car. THAT is one fact I cannot speak to... I know Kory was calling around to find an '89 body recently (he contacted a couple of the guys who had molds recently) AND he was trying to get Dan to Mark get his hands on HIS car. Why would he be trying so hard if Brin's body was in great shape? Perhaps Mark DID secure another body to mold off of? (He DID mention a few months ago he was going to post a picture of TWO '89's in his shop TOGETHER) Only Mark can say for sure which car he used. But as I mentioned, unless he got his hands on one of the FEW remaining STRAIGHT '89 molds recently to get a pull from (Nye sold probably the BEST set of '89 molds out there to a private collector who WILL NOT let anyone take a pull out of them), then there are not too many very straight bodies available to start with.

RE: marks molds

Oops! I almost forgot to add - RUSTY - CONGRATULATIONS!!! You are a step ahead of me and many other board members now! Even a bent body can be corrected fairly easily. I know many of the cars out there today started off warped (NOTE - IF MARK PULLED THESE MOLDS OFF OF A STRAIGHT BODY TO BEGIN WITH, THEN NO PROBLEM ON YOUR PART! I DON'T KNOW WHICH CAR HE PULLED THEM OFF FOR SURE). I actually do mean that as an unbiased compliment, I hope it doesn't sound otherwise. Mark - regardless of the quality of the pull (which we will find out soon and I will be GLAD to praise it when and if I see that it is straight and clean) I am happy to see another person selling kits. As I always used to tell Kory - the more kit makers the merrier! It makes it better for all of us who actually want to own one.

RE: marks molds

i know my body is going to look good mark put alot of time into geting the car ready to mold since i have been talking to him i can tell he's very smart he wouldnt drop that kind of cash to make a warped mold and he's going to be useing cars out of that mold hiself why would he cause hiself more work. i could tell when he first saw mine out of the mold he was very pleased and said i wont be disapointed and it turned out better than he ever expected but like i said when it gets here i will take any picture you want and i am just glad to get a 89 i have wanted it for a long time !!!
