My bike

Anyone want to donate a set of "tins" so I can finish this bike? Like the "Animated" paint scheme? I never seem to finish anything. I really should try to stay focused.

WOW! You never cease to amaze me, Jack... Maybe you could drop Paul a line, or Doug Hines. Both have the ability to make the TV show bike...

Hey, I am going to visit Dan's builder tomorrow (if I can catch him at home). I might take some new pics, and measure that wheelbase FINALLY!

RE: My bike

I have been thinking about chopping and painting my HD up to look like the Captain America motorcycle. I just can’t leave anything alone.
Then again I could just slap a couple of bat stickers on it since it is already black, LOL.

Hey Jack - since I am pretty much ignorant of the TV Bat Cycle, is that the actual Yamaha used to make the original bike? Same year, style, etc.?

YESSSSSS!

RE: My bike

Yep it's the same style. This on is either a 66,67 or 68 YM1. I think, no title. It's a very long story as to how I got it and why it's not finished. But the short version is I was going to build the bike because I couldn't afford to build the car. The day I was going to buy the Tins for the bike the GA kit showed up on Ebay. I couldn't afford both so I made the decision to shelve the bike and go for the GA. I hope I'll be able to finish it one of these days. Maybe I can get the Fiberglass Gods to each send me one piece so I can finish it. I did have a lot of fun with the paint.

Nice... Doug has tins to the Bike, and I have been buggin him about molding them so he can sell the kits soon. I figure there are a LOT of people out there who want to build SOMETHING, and would take whatever they can afford. Problem is, I hear those bikes are hella hard to come by!

RE: My bike

I got mine on Ebay. The parts are extreamly hard to find. I still need a clutch and a few other parts and a rebuild kit for the engine would be nice.

RE: My bike

I had a motorcycle guy offer to weld a customer chopper frame for me for like $300, frame only. I wonder if it would be worth his while to weld up some replica frames like this, so hobbyists like us could take them and convert them in to Bat Cycles. Since the bikes are so hard to find, why not make more?? You could probably use any old engine and tranny combo.. They are 250cc's, right? A Honda Rebel engine might work, and they are plentiful!

RE: My bike

I don't think it would be worth it at all. Every time I see a Bat bike pop up on Ebay the bidding never seems to go much over $5000. If I had it to do over I would have started with a newer bike. lots of bikes out there that still have the "look". The left side kick start is the only real issue and even it can be resolved by starting with a bike with an electric start. I have said it before but I would love to see a newer Chopper version done.

RE: My bike

I would build the Chopper and the sculpt new fairings, etc in the 66 style. I did some quick drawing a long while back and thought it would be pretty cool. I'm like most people I have more ideas then time or money. Don't you have a bike?

Yup... What do you think? Could I make it into a Bat Cycle??? Do you still have that drawing you did?

RE: My bike

The drawings are long gone but that would be a great bike to start with. I would do it like Tim is with his go-cart. Start with foam and work from there. I think I would skip the sidecar or make it detachable. I think this could be a great project for you.

RE: My bike

Hi Guys,

Jack's bike is pretty close to the 1963 Yamaha YH-350 that is commonly used for Batcycles.

The following photo is of the donor bike we'll be using for a clients Batcycle on the TV show.

Behind it is what I consider to be the last production run of the Yamaha YH. It is a 1981 Yamaha Vision. It's the last sport bike that was made where you are seated in an upright position. It's not a touring bike and it still has the original tank design found on the YH. Very rare bike.

We'll be using BOTH of these bikes to make Batcycles on the show. The newer bike is one I've had around for about 20 years and decided to make myself a Batcycle with. But for the show, and for the fact that I personally don't have a problem with a Lime Green or even and Orange 89 Batmobile, I've decided to jazz (read: Pimp) it up a little bit with Nitrous, street glow and custom paint, lights, chrome diamond plate and chome carbon fibre.

Now the good thing about this is that if I HAD to, I could re-do the bodywork and paint, rip off the pimpwork and turn it into a classic Batcycle. But the bike is too new and no one other than me would appreciate the newer bike. Diehard fans will publicly denounce it at a show so it's no good for that. Buyers won't want the bike because you can tell it's not "an original" so they can't use it.

And...

IT'S MINE!!!!!

So what do I care if it's a little different?!!!

So I'm gonna mess with it so it's more to my liking. Plus... I can show it as a "TunerGirlz Batcycle" from the show and not have a licensing problem with DC. Same as an American Chopper Spiderman Bike.

I've always been an advocate of "IT'S YOUR CAR!!! DO WHAT YOU WANT TO IT!!!" So that's what I'm doing.

Don't make your car or bike for everyone else to appreciate if you don't like it yourself. Justin... Go ahead and trick out your bike, it will look awesome and you'll love it! The rest of you that want to make Batbikes and can't find YH's, use what you can find, use what you like. Only about 100 people on the planet are going to put your pic on a site and say "Look at this guy with his weird Batcycle/Batmobile!"

To them, I say; "Where's YOURS????? Show me yours and then you have a right to comment on someone else's car/bike!"

Do what you love, not what everyone else wants you to.

And Jack, PM me, I'm sure I can locate you some bike parts. But I don't know what the heck "tin" is... Sorry.

"Where does he get those wonderful toys?"
He MAKES them you idiot!

I did think that the rendition of your bike that Jack did looked really nice. All you need now is the sidecar.

It is apparently a cold day in hell... I have been showing EVERYONE the pic of my "updated" Batbike.... Of all the people who saw it, my GIRLFRIEND actually said it looked really neat! HOLY CRAP! She humors my obsession, but this is the first time she has ever said that this stuff is neat! Awesome!
