About your batmobiles and everyday activities

Question to all you owners and prospective owners out there.

Can you ever to normal stuff with your batmobile once it's out on the road?
Drive through a drive-thru? Go into one of those automatic car washing places? Make U-Turn?

RE: About your batmobiles and everyday activities

Not a chance...

Won't fit through most drive-thrus, certainly won't clear the tracks of an auto-wash and most likely the pit in most self-wash places.

You can't park it. Even when we take a Batmobile on a open trailer and stop at a fast food place, someone has to stay outside to watch the car. Plus... parking it in front of a business constitutes an endorsement of the business by Warner Bros. and the Batman franchise. You can get in trouble with WB for that.

Makes sense though... as those of you with military backgrounds know that the D.O.D. frowns on you being off-base in uniform drinking or eating commercially labeled products. Kinda the "The United States Marine Corps. drinks Pepsi instead of Coke!" headline you'd find on TV if someone photographed you in uniform drinking a Pepsi. Doesn't matter to anyone if you're in civillian clothes or driving a Taurus, but makes a world of difference in uniform or a Batmobile.

Think of the car as a uniform. A "POLICE" uniform!

It's an attractive nuisance, draws a hell of a crowd, disturbs the peace (I've personally been arrested for that one. "Organizing a demonstration in a public place without a permit" for pulling the car to the side of the road at the beach to please a few girls flagging me down. A few minutes later, there were so many people around the car that I couldn't see to pull forward or backwards. The "nice" officers were happy to clear the streets, put my friend in the driver's seat (They couldn't figure out how to tow it!), and arrest me! You can't imagine how many phone numbers I got passed into the back window of the patrol car until the cops pushed the girls away.)

and causes people to behave in a disorganized manner. People drive across the median to check out the car, come racing across parking lots, run across the street to take pics of the car, jump in front of you to get you to stop.

I've also discussed the main reason at length on this board.

You hit a school bus in your Civic or Taurus an you might make the back page of the police log of you local paper.

You get caught having sex in a public place and you might not even get a mention.

You try that in a Batmobile or a police uniform????

Headlines;

"POLICE OFFICER RAPES GIRL IN PARK!"

"BATMAN KILLS 30 SCHOOLCHILDREN!!!"

So, if you don't have a legitimate REASON for disturbing the piece with your "uniform" (ie, an organized event at which the police are already aware of the problems to be created)

WB and the police department would rather that you didn't.

You can build the car ANY SCALE to fit the Drive-thru.
Or you can build a 1:1 scale then build your own Burger joint.
Batburger anyone?

My sisters SUV is a lot longer and wider than my Batmobile, I don’t see any problem getting in and out of any fast food establishments. My Police Forensics vehicle is 27’ long 10’ wide, 8' tall and I take it everywhere with no problems.

Yeah, sizewise I don't think it's a problem. Remember Jacks figures on the Dodge Ram...

U guys R ok. Everything in America is bigger than anywhere else. Here in Ireland it's not so. They propose a building to the planning office on one of those small model things and then build the thing to the same scale. Our country may be smaller but for shite sake give us bigger stuff. Bigger roads, Bigger drive thru's. Dammit I'll be lucky if i can get it out of the garage.

I think it'd be weird to go to a drive through without a batman costume though. They'd be all excited to see it pull up and then if they see you without costume they'd be really disappointed.

You'd pull up and they'd be like "Awesome, Batman is here..(open canopy) oh.. you're not Batman."

RE: About your batmobiles and everyday activities

SG1,

It's not the width of the lane, but the turning radius of most drive-thrus. The car turns very wide, like a dually or your EMS vehicle. But the dually has the luxury of clearing most obstructions right up to the moment that the tires come in contact with the curb.

The front bumperettes on the batmobile don't allow you to bring your wheels in close to the curb and then turn. You have to steer clear well in advance of a curb or loose a bumperette. (I always keep an extra painted set in the trunk as do most all of my customers. Would be silly and embarrasing to drive down the road with a damaged batmobile.)

Plus, the side intakes are wider than the rear tires and almost as low. So you can't jump a curb with the rear tires like you can with most big rigs.

Therefore... you miscalculate your turn, and you're politely asking everyone in the drive-thru lane to back up so you can get out.

At that point, it's your only option.

All that for a burger? Better to take the General Lee!

BATGOD,

i already went though ever problem i would have in my batmobile, besides way i figure it if i can drive a hearse in a palce i can drive the batmobile, so the turning radius wont be a prob for me, front bubperetts dose not become a issue when u have hydrolics lifts. i also have cammras insteld in the front portions and and the back on each side which jacked into some dispaly montiros that allowe me to see better. ever problem u can possible think of i alreayd though of and came up with a solution, thats the advenatge of plaing for 4 years wtih a engerring mind. my working 89 batmobile plans were actuly more challaging them the batmobile.

Well SG1,

Every problem you've not considered in your 4 years of planning, I've EXPERIENCED in my 15 years of driving them.

Who's cars? Mine?

As far as I was aware, the only people on this board with road time in the 89 are me, and the "Sharp-shooter" from Northern Cali.

Who let you drive their car?
