Anyone want to trade a 66 replica fora 89?

I'm new to this board but I know and have met a few of you. I own a Keaton style replica, it has a 350 chevy, built on a caprice frame and it is my dream car. My wife would love me to sell it but I don't really want to make her that happy. I met someone before that wanted to trade me there 66 replica for mine,I would lovt to show some pics but I don't know how, If anyone wnts to see pics or can post them please email me. thomasrepetny@sbcglobal.net

Hey there jonpaul! Welcome to CLTC. Who built your '89 if you don't mind my asking? Is it one of Butts' old kits? If so, did one of his builders put it together? Use the upload feature in your NEW POST prompt (right above the input box) to add pics. Or e-mail them to one of us.

Oh yeah! This was the one from Craig's List that we discussed recently. I am assuming it did not sell, then? Kory had mentioned that you were asking less than your listed price at the time. Is that true? Was this a project between you and some buddies? It looks like alot of work went into it, and we can all respect that!

RE: Anyone want to trade a 66 replica fora 89?

I put it on craigs list to see what kind of response I would get. I had a few great offers and met some cool people. I almost sold it but I thinnk once you have a Batmobile it would be pretty hard to live without it, Does that make sense? When I got this car around 8 years ago, It had no interior, the body was very rough, a bad gas tank, bad radiator. Since then me and my Batmechanic, who whenever he would ask me what he should do to the car, I would tell him to pretend Batman was real and do what he would want to the car. I think he really got into making this the best Batmobile that he could. It now has a racing fuel cell, a triple radiator with a blower fan, The engine runs great, doesn't over heat any more. All the parts he uses are the best. The car soon is getting new windows and a susspension lift. I was told that this car was made in 1991. The guy who built the body built it by looking at only 2 pictures. The body is 3 inches thick in some parts. 2 years ago I was driving the car when a woman in a full size Blazer hit me in the right rear tire, my car spun around 2 times and the only damage I had was 9 in crack. As I climbed out of the car I was sure I was going to see a wing ripped off the car. She hit m in a good spot because it cost me less then $200.00 to fix. Her car was in worse shape then mine.

Yeah! We love seeing projects like this! Do you still talk to the person who built it originally? I would love to hear what method he used!

RE: Anyone want to trade a 66 replica fora 89?

The frame is a caprice, car is 8 feet wide and a little ove 18 feet long. The car is not exact but since I have had the car no one has ever thought it wasn't a real batmobile from the movie. The guy who made the car sold it to the person I bought it from. I know nothing about the guy who made it, I tried to find out who it was a few years ago but no luck. I would love him to see the car now.

Jonpaul are you swamped with bithday party requests? I have a friend that is a fellow toy lover that went to your house and got to see your car in person, he loved it. He said you where great and allowed him and his son to look in and get inside your car. HE is a big 66 fan but your car had him rethinking that.

RE: Anyone want to trade a 66 replica fora 89?

I did a kids charity at a car show last year it was about 12 miles from my house, I drove the Batmobile( I was stupid to drive that car all that way, it's 1 and a half inches off the ground, I got lucky that I didn't destroy the car over train tracks.) I was at a stop light when on the corner a bunch of people started to shout, they were all positive comments. I lifted up the roof on my car, they were expecting to see Batman, but I was dressed as Spiderman, my friend who was in another car was Batman, he couldn't fit into the spiderman outfit so I was spiderman. When these guy saw Spiderman driving the Batmobile they flipped out! they were jumping up and down screaming spiderman stole the Batmobile!! it was very funny, I always laugh now when I pass that street.

Yeah Tim, I want to do a Spidey photo opp as soon as I can get Nate around with his '66. Kinda a "Spidey stole the Batmobile" spread. I think it would be amusing. Even MORE amusing if I could get someone in a Batman costume to help with the photo spread!!! I bet we could get it published in Wizard magazine if we do it!

Most everyone here has seen photos of your car at some point on the web!
I know what you mean about selling your batmobile, it's hard to imagine
not having my 66. I'm not as attached to my 89 yet, but give it time!

RE: Anyone want to trade a 66 replica fora 89?

Hiya Jonpaul, Welcome to C.L.T.C.

I have a few questions for you please......

What are your windshield halves made from? Are they plastic?

Is the vehicle street legal? Or are you able to have it out and about without any local police hassles?

Is it titled as a Batmobile?

Thanks..
Sincerely,

Bill W.
