Mini-89 update

A little drywall mud and a little paint just for fun. Lots of sanding and more mud to follow. I guess someone is going to have to update the icon...

WOW! Tim that is looking AWESOME! However, I like the blue icon. :) Maybe I will make a new one in black when you are done, but I am keeping the blue one, too! It can be used to represent all of the unfinished projects out there! ;)

RE: Mini-89 update

Knowing Tim's track record, it's safe to say that cart will stay in above state for another two months.

The part where it's painted black is not even visible on this icon .

I think we're safe with this for another month or two.

Thanks Justin. This is the part I've been waiting for. It should start shaping up soon. I just need to find the extra time to work on it...

Foam then kilz ,then plaster then paint or more kilz primer then paint then glass?

RE: Mini-89 update

Since I decided to use mud, I no longer need to protect the foam with Kilz. I plan to sculpt the rest with the mud and spray it with primer from time to time followed by more sanding and eventually I will spray it with grey surfacing primer which I haven't used yet, but should help smooth out small imperfections which will be followed by more sanding (of course) and waxing until I eventually have a smooth glass-like "class A" finish. Then it will be ready to mold.

RE: Mini-89 update

Of course I am going to mold it. You can't drive around this wood, foam and plaster monster! This is the positive "plug". Next I will make a negative "mold" from which I will make the final positve piece. I may make more than one, but they won't be for sale.

I'm way too excited about your project, Tim... Hey, ya know what would be cool? If you tried that VIP technology to pull the body for your go-cart when you are done molding it.

RE: Mini-89 update

Thanks, I am going to give the mold a pretty good size flange so I will have that option later...
