Exhaust Nozzle

Here is my exhaust and segments; it has an inner liner to keep from having a burn through. I haven’t decided if I want to etch it and paint it with high temp. paint or have it powder coated?

Looks great. You should either heat treat it or "blue' it to give it that overheated metal look, like a real turbine.

RE: Exhaust Nozzle

Tim; I tried it your way and I kept on burning up the rear of the car.
I made templates of all the pieces and had the local sheet metal shop cut all the pieces out galvanized steel for me, a buddy and I put it together, it took both of us five hours to assemble the unit. I used steel rivets on the liner, aluminum ones would come apart with the heat and weight, it weighs a ton.

RE: Exhaust Nozzle

I am using a Dragon Exhaust system that uses the spent exhaust gases from your cars engine and ignites them. I will have a small tank of diesel fuel that will be pumped just behind the Dragon Exhaust using spray bars similar to a jet engine. This will atomize the fuel and will be ignited by the primary burner, and Walla a fire ball!!

I got this Idea while I was looking up the tail pipe of my Jet while it was being lit off.

I had measured Jay’s burner section but it was too small. So I broke off, I mean dissembled my 1:18 scale car and blew it up to normal size and took the measurements off of it.

I was wondering if anyone would ever catch on. Yours is sitting in the sheet metal shop waiting on you.
Don't you already have one attached to your car?

RE: Exhaust Nozzle

So is the system that ignites your exhaust in any way street legal? I assume not, but figured I had to ask lol. If that is legal then my whole idea for fiberoptics and led effects just got thrown out the window lol.

As far as I know having a flame coming out the back of you vehicle while driving down the streets and highway is illegal. Most are used in car shows and parking lots. Usually local law enforcement turns its head until some one complains.

Yea wot Kev said. Same over here. It's like NOS. It's not illegal to have it on your car but it's illegal to use it on a public road.

We also sell a lot of Flamer Kit's to the high end modifiers. They're quite cheap yet effective.

RE: Exhaust Nozzle

You must have sold a few to the 66 board, they are always flaming on that board.

RE: Exhaust Nozzle

For my rear exhaust nozzle;
I was thinking of perhaps modifying an electric torpedo heater, perhaps a small 50,000 BTU one. Any ideas? They are maby 8" dia, by 33" long.

On The pro side, a new one is only about $120.oo and it wouldn't be too hard to shrink the units legnth if I needed to, and kerosene is cheap to buy, and it wouldn't need a preassurized cell to hold its fuel.

Any ideas about its pros or cons please?

RE: Exhaust Nozzle

There are several 66 guys that are doing that already. They gutted out the insides and removed the flame holders to allow the flames to extend beyond the unit.

Check with Nate "n8mobiles" on the 66 board. The flame is not as impressive as the exhaust system.
