As many of you know, I have been working on some very big projects, for a very long time..... For this particular software project, I have burned through 4 different programmers, and have almost come up on 1 year late from our projected launch date (June 27, 2008). There have been countless delays, and every time it looked like we were close, we got stopped in our tracks. However, if there is one thing you should know about me, it's that I don't ever give up. Regardless of what life throws at you, you don't ever give up, or you'll never make it to the finish line. Well, guess what? We are standing at the finish line, looking back at the long, challenging race track, and I am thrilled to finally be launching the AP Product Labs software!

Below, you will find our official BETA tester request, as posted on Craigslist:

ATTENTION ARTISTS: Archangel Printing (www.archangelprinting.com) is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of our new online t-shirt design platform; the AP Product Labs. The APPL software is designed to allow anybody with a MySpace account to add a fully customizable t-shirt store to their MySpace profile, and to design custom t-shirts to fill the store. The artist (or store owner) is able to upload their own artwork and designs from their computer, and preview them on the actual garments! As if that wasn't enough, each store owner has the ability to add a markup to the manufacturing cost, ensuring that YOU always make money when someone buys your t-shirts.

The APPL platform has been in development for two years, and will be available for BETA launch, this week! During the initial BETA phase, actual purchases will not be allowed, although we will have dummy credit card information automatically entered into the checkout phase, to allow full end-to-end testing of the application. You will be able to add the t-shirt store to your MySpace profile, customize some of the basic elements, upload your own header image, and design your own basic t-shirts. Additionally, all BETA users will have the ability to leave comments on other artists' designs, add user ratings, test the item sharing capabilities of our platform, etc.

For more information on what the APPL platform is all about, check out the demo videos, available on our MySpace and Facebook pages:

Or, visit the AP Product Labs User Forum, by going to: http://www.archangelprinting.com/productlabs/forum/index.php

Contact us today if you would like to help us BETA test this awesome social app; turn your MySpace page into a profitable, custom t-shirt store! More flexibility than CafePRESS, Red Bubble, Zazzle and all the rest! Wait until we add some of the more advanced features for version 2.0.... We are just getting started!

Shortly after launch, we will be working on a version for Facebook, as well as an HTML embed version.

Of course, as I have been mentioning, as soon as I handle this BETA launch, followed by the comprehensive FULL launch, at the end of the week, I will get back to the Batmobile thing, and start enjoying my hobbies a little more. I hope everyone understands; I have been MIA for a reason, although I check in the site from time to time. Good things are just around the corner!!

how much of the t-shirt surface can be covered with a design? what i mean is i have some shirts that have a design on the chest only, and some that are flat out an all over design. What are the limitations there?

Thanks.

For version 1.0, we are limited to traditional printing techniques, leaving us with about 14" wide x 16" tall as the max print area (you can add multiple print locations, obviously). We are in the process of working on the version 2.0 release (yes, this early), which is complete with a 3D API that converts our simple 2D t-shirt editor into a complex, 3D t-shirt editor. The benefit? Designing "all over" printed shirts! There is a complex technique that is required for manufacturing, but we are working on it.... These are the things that have been keeping me so busy for the last year - year and a half; trying to change the custom t-shirt industry!!!

justin i have a question, i have a new website covering the DC Universe Online video game.  it's a fan/community site, i was going to have a store for t-shirts and other stuff i might have site logos and other kind of logo items (stikers, mugs, etc..) for sale.

i was going to open a cafepress store till i remembered your thread here.  can i have a custom site from your store like cafepress for my site?

i have my own designs i did on photoshop that members can choose from, but i think down the road gamers (once they get their own crews, friends, gangs) will have their own design's for their groups, can load them or give them to me so they can have shirts made also.

the fullsite will launch very soon, before SD comic con fore sure.  i just launched the forums-

Hey there! Although the initial release will be limited to MySpace, the application itself is incredibly portable! Since the entire thing is Flash based, you will be able to literally embed a custom store ANYWHERE that allows embedded Flash (forums, blogs, website, etc). We anticipate many people will use the application as standalone website content.

Before we get crazy by allowing people to embed the app, anywhere, we are using the MySpace community as a means to test server loads, root out bugs, etc. However, expect the open version to be available, very soon!

Oh, and don't worry; we are not going to stop at T-Shirts... Although we will be starting with a very refined product offering, we will quickly be adding other available products, such as mugs, mouse pads, posters, art prints, and much more....

As I mentioned, if anybody is interested in staying involved in this project, check out our online forums: http://www.archangelprinting.com/productlabs/forum/index.php
We don't have a large member base, yet, but we are still in BETA mode; pending a satisfactory test period, we will be announcing the official launch, soon!!!

PS - Our manufacturing costs allow for a considerably larger markup than other online communities, such as CafePRESS, Red Bubble, Zazzle and more.... Basically: lower manufacturing costs = greater profits for the same amount of sales!
