i don't know if this is one of the original batmobile for sure, but i do know that whoever owns this one has been trying to sell it for some time. here is a link of one web site i found the same car onhttp://carscoop.blogspot.com/2008/05/1989-batmobile-sale-on-ebay.html
right now the bid is at $100,100 don't know what it is going to stop at though. what i do know is that only two of the originals were drivable. those cars were the number 1 and number 2 batmobiles. the other four, yes four, not three were stage props. but it is possible that this car was one of the stage props converted over to a drivable batmobile. unfortunately, this one, if original, would have had to been painted at one point and time, because the originals were a flat black or satin finish whatever you want to call it, not a glossy black finish like this one. this seller also claims that the car is eight feet wide but it looks like one of the shorter replica cars, like one of the sixflags cars. now i am not trying to bash this car or this seller. all i am trying to say is that there are a few questionable things that make me really wonder if this one of the originals.

if this is the number five car then great, but it looks amiss to me. this is the response i got to the message i sent the seller.
Are you wanting to bid on this car? If you bid on the car. I would be more than a happy to send you a copy of the contract with warner bros. I am selling this car as the #5 car, and I'm sticking by that. I'm sorry that things don't look the way you remember them.
i don't know about anyone here but i don't have a hundred grand plus to put up just to see a contract that may or may not exist.

| I thought there were only (2) Batmobiles built for the 89 movie. I thought the other cars were built for Batman Returns. What did I miss? -Jason M

what i was told/read or think i read, was that only 2 of the original batmobiles were mobile. the others were just stage props. now that you brought this up i may have my information wrong, and if so i am sorry for that.
why i say there were 6 of the original batmobiles was because when i lived in new york i was given a chance to work on what was told to me by six flags management, was that the batmobile the had just purchased at auction was one of the original 6 batmobiles built for the batman movie. they said that they paid 100,000 for it at auction . unfortunately i didn't get a chance to work on it, cause if i did, i defiantly would have pulled a mold off of it. this one is just a stage prop. the interior is just a bunch of plywood and there is no motor or tranny. this batmobile is located in lake george new york at the six flags located there called the great escape.
if you can get any more information on this that would be great. i will look over the stuff i have again just to make sure i wasn't giving false information. if i did then i apologize.

| If you watch the re-release of the 89 batman movie, in the building the batmobile section and also in other threads on this site Im sure it say's that there was only one fully working car built for the first movie and some static props for close up work. Maybe this is one of the 92 cars, if you compare the 89 car in the film it looks a bit sharper round the edges this one is a bit more rounded, what do people think?. Mine would have to be matt black! Shiny black might as well be red it just doesn't go !
I will definatly be back
