So it looks like WB is doing a little shake down on 66 builders.
People are paranoid, but I personally think it is a smear campaign from George Barris.
I've seen him write down the names of all the batmobile owners, etc. I think he's spreading rumors, but wanted to get some other thoughts/opinions.

| No it's for real WB & DC have their lawyers after some of the builders. They are serious about copyrights infringement.

| I never really understood WB or any company with these replica cars. What are the laws on this? I can understand if they get pissed from someone making money off their replica for advertising or what not but do these copyright laws apply to someone that builds a replica for their own enjoyment and uses it as there daily driver?

| First of all WB/DC can not stop you from building a Batmobile, and they can not take your Batmobile. They can stop you from selling the Batmobile if you are dong a mass production, however, only if you use the word Batmobile and or use copywrite words or logos.

| So you’re saying I could mass produce the Tumbler just as long as I call it something else and don’t have any batman logos on it? Couldn’t the car the way it looks be copyrighted as an image thus using the image without permission?

| No you can't mass produce and sell any Batmobile to the general public without having some legal issues, but you can build one for yourself. I am having my atty look into what can or can not be done with regards to building a Batmobile for other people. I do know you can not use the word Batmobile and can not use the exact bat design on the 66 Batmobile. I should know more soon. I'm sure a lot of builders here have dealt with this issue more than me and hopefully they will share what they know.
