Perhaps they are manufactured from pipe alone, and not from an exhisting peice. Afterall the Tumbler was scratch built, instead of scavanged  . Unlike the '89 which had other exhisting car parts from it. Just my 2¢

| I tell you what this bike reminds me of. the fewture model kit "quasimodo bike". very much the same feel. very rough, not at all slick, very busy detail, but almost a rude, disjointed appearance. I also think that Nolan may have got some inspiration from Geiger's rendition of what a batmobile would be. His was like a pair of scissors. They had him come up with a design, but then shunned it to be too way out in left field. Nolans play-dough sculpture really looked like an attempt at something geiger-ish. I always thought the quasimodo bike would be cool done full-size. google Nirasawa, and/or creature core.

There are several serious challenges to riding this "bike" the first being that motorcycles pivot, not turn. so pivoting this thing on those tires must be a bitch and a half. The proverbial "sweet spot" of these tires is minuscule! Too much in any one direction and *Bam*! You're yard-saling this thing! The other thing being dual wheel drive. Both bicycles and motorcycles being rear wheel drive have a very distinct feel when riding them. There is a certain predictability to having your rear wheel power you and your front go wherever you point it. With dual drive the feeling is radically different, you can't pull wheelies or slide/bounce your front wheel in order to get the back end to slide around or maneuver the way you want it (think Moto GP style power slide through a turn also known as a "crab walk" turn). If one motor were off even slightly this thing would eat you up and spit you out!
