Chop it up and build what i started to think about doing a year ago..a goKart on steroids Tumbler. Thanks to Shagg for giving me the subliminal push to do it.  So while the larger scale one will primarily be fabricated by an experienced guy, I will have fun sharpening my welding & rookie fabricator skills on the little one.

what a difference 6 months, a 3day welding course, and a MIG welder (instead of stick) makes. Shot is a little blurry (i will take better ones today). The weld on the left was 2 days ago with a Millermatic MIG. The on weld on the right was in January with the Licoln buzzbox stick.

I think it was jack that said i would love the MIG. He was right.

here's an attempt at fitting...not a complete Jig, but it helped.

so far, took about 8 hours for this with frequent brakes to observe, admire, critque and to cool off...me (90-95 degrees up here and the humidity makes it feel like 100-105 and me want to puke:sick.

The MIG is really efficient and very much easier to handle as far as positioning goes. I'm learning that comfort while welding helps a whole bunch. just can't wait to try welding upside down, on my back....uh, no...although I know there will be times where I'll have to.

smoke from welding pouring out of the gararge. don't get me wrong I DO ventilate through the rear windows of my "cave" while I'm working, but I just thought it looked cool when I shut the lights inside (so no one peeks) and let the smoke out the main front door.
