Jack and Doug, this is more of what I am talking about. Any larger hole size in the braided mesh and you kind of loose the speaker look gets to be more like chicken wire.

'Port hole' is the 'rear window' (buy a model, Hotwheels 1 :18th is about right). 

Mesh ? Try industrial Stainless Steel mesh suppliers, they will even send you samples....
