I ordered my glass cut from a glass place. they screwed the pattern up 3 times in a row. I ended up having to grind it to fit. On top of that, I'm not liking how it looks that much. I will switch to acrylic/lexan laminate that is bulletproof.

time to update the log:

Sorry to hear you've had so much trouble with your glass. It's pretty hard to get wrong as long as you follow the patterns. Sometimes when we have to have tempered glass made they screw that up. But at least with tempered you can blame it on the heat.  Did they redo them for free or at least at a good discount?

They did do the re-do's for free, but they never got it dead on. I stressed to them that I needed it dead on as inside I have vertical walls(1/4" deep) that the glass sits into. Also when I got the last cuts, the store owner told me that they never sent back the templates from detroit, where he had to send the templates to be cut. What a pain in the butt.

So I did manage to get 3 of the 4 glass pieces in the front, and then in the process of trying to get the 4th in, I broke the damn piece. And because it's tempered, it popped like a light bulb into a zillion tiny pieces. I AIN"T GOIN' THROUGH THAT AGAIN, I TELL YA.

And I also don't think that tempered glass is such a great idea in the first place. Rock hits the glass while driving, and your blind. Because the glass never just cracks, it pops. Bad Idea all the way around, I was at a plastics place, looking at the examples of rounds shot into a laminate, and geez the stuff really doesn't look to bad. So I'm gona give it a go.

You can also get laminated glass that is bullet resistant. My only concern with the lexan is that it may scratch easier. I would check on that. But if it doesn't scratch too easy than I don't see any trouble with it.
