Hello, New guy here. I just spent the last 2 hours reading this entire thread. Very entertaining. I was a bit disapointed that I got to the end and the car wasn't done. Oh well, not everyone can be Rusty ( I know, I know....I'm waaay to new to be razzing you..sorry..couldn't help myself) Don't feel bad, it took me SIX YEARS to restore my '83 Idaho State police "crime fighter" car. And my car was just a resto, not a complete car build like you. Love the 66.
Restorer of "real life" crime fighting vehicles. Next?.....Gotham www.fotki.com/Preston

| Thanks for reading my tale, it may be the never ending story, but hopefully not. With my son going off to college this year, Bruce Wayne's wallet would come in handy, but don't count me out yet! The Star Car Association is taking a lot of my free time, we just did another charity event with several cars this last weekend. New members too! The Blues Brother's are the latest members of the Star Car Association! So the 92 batmobile sits in my dad's back yard for right now during the summer car show season. Ability First is a service provider for handicapped adults, and they do a hollywood red carpet event so it's like they are at the Oscars. Look a likes and local media shows up for a grand event!

I have some time off, so I will actually TOUCH and work on my natmobile #2 So this is where I am, and I want some replies from guys who have smoked past me in the last year! (Remember when I was ahead of Rusty? Basically I need photos and ideas on this stage: Radiator placement not infront of engine, but on a side intake passenger side, tricks or ideas on how and where to mount steering wheel, brake and gas pedal with body off What size tire on the back are you REALLY ON YOUR CAR USING Best and cheapest way of adding a lift kit that is dependable, and doesn't cost 5 grand. what sort of sub structure did you build before putting the body back on the car? I know Rusty had the nascar cage, but how did you get the body back on around it, and make sure that you didn't flex it out and it fit? Photos of sub structure for front hinge, how did you connect body to frame? What headlights did you REALLY USE IN YOUR ACTUAL CAR AND THEY LOOK AND WORK CORRECTLY What was your order of build items, from just a chassie with wheels and a motor, to putting the body back on? Thanks, I have three weeks, and am gathering friends, parts, some money, and want to make a little headway!!! Please post your answers ASAP so I can print them out and have them ready by next week, keep them short, and full of details What I need "head light that looks like this photo, is from "X" and is in my car" NOT " well I heard it was this, but I dont have a car nor have I seen one in person" ALso from the finished builders, mistakes you made, or stuff that got in the way later in the build that you wish you had known about. My first goal is to get the body off, get the radiator, pedals, brakes working and checked, and start the motor, so I have a flatmobile that I can put into gear, turn and stop. If I get that far, I will be very impressed withmyself. Then the next step would be the lift kit, which mystifies me!

http://starcarcentral.wordpress.com/2008/06/19/new-star-car-record-12/ Here is the link to the blog, but until you have "cruised" on the 405 in traffic with Herbie and the Batmobile, it's hard to discribe! Found 3 bullit mustangs, the Gone in 60 seconds Elenor, and a few leads on "Joe Dirt" car, and another Smokey and the Bandit. Now, what car is missing that we have 4 of in the club? Guys that didn't make it: Black Beauty-Green Hornet, Ghostbusters, Mad Max, Christine, Blues Brothers, Highway Patrol, Adam-12, Duke's Mustang, Rosco's Police car, and a few others. Now that's my new goal, Over 20! Even with a bad sunburn, I don't regret it! Pretty soon we will be our own car show!

| Well, got the body off of the frame, cut all the supports and set it off to the side to see what I had to work with. The radiator I have may be too big, can anyone send photos or post here even better of shots of radiators in 89-92 batmobiles originals or replicas, where the battery goes, gas tank vs. after burner set up, firewall. I want to get the motor running next week, but it seems I will need a firewall first to hook the pedals, master cylendar, battery, steering wheel all too. Thanks to Jack for sharing lots of his build photos for a reference! I am learning TIG welding and taking it step bystep. I have two more weeks to get out there and bang away, so I want to get a firewall, and the motor started, gas tank hooked up, brakes, radiator, parking brake, and a little wireing to the battery and starter. I took some photos that I will post later!. I also got a deep cut from the gas tank, my first bat injury.....
