Im living the dream baby!! Take that DH!  jk jk. Its funny how you freak out about getting the body. Then when you have it you almost sign yourself into a mental institution because you realize how much more work is involved that you ever thought prior to getting the shell. Then you begin starting small strides here and there on the donor car. If your like me and not massive amounts of cash laying around it will humble you in trying to do any kind of rush job on the build. For me, the big hurdles so far have been the body, wheels, tires, donor car, UGH! air bag system which is really expensive imo, and the metals for the frame work. I was kinda lucky with my engine and havnt had to do any major maintence to it plus the transmission seems in good shape. Ive grown to take Unholys motto in diving in and trying something out and if it doesnt work......back up and punt. I will usually have a beer and laugh and wonder what I was thinking then in turn blame Tim and Adam for my screw up.

Seems I have a bat in my belfry

Yep getting your dream ride is one awesome feeling

Today I finished paying the balance so the body is officially mine

As of today I'm planning on a pickup date on the 21st. Two weeks to rearrange my garage, strip body off chassis, modify the frame. Bad part of it all I'm working 7 days a week until then...

We took a few pic's (well wife did) so when I get them off her phone I'll post them.

Congrats Callred....looking forward to stealing your ideas.....

And um James I'm blaming you if I do something wrong..you know like that time with the thing and the welding and stuff...yea that one

Just remember measure twice and cut once..... and when that doesn't work dig out the plasma cutter and angle grinder and do it again ... have fun and most of all don't listen to James..

So how did everyone else cut the body panels off? any easy tips if you had to do over? I have doors, hood, deck lid, front fender skins and bumper off so far..

taken pics as I go and wow my caprice has no floor pans due to rust (Detroit cop car)

I think there was like a dozen bolts holding the body to the chassis I pretty much got the body off in one piece. Check my pics...

Sorry about no updates
Hospital visit & 5mm kidney stone is slowing me down some (have not passed). Father and I did get the front and rear glass out yesterday afternoon. Plans today are cutting roof off, dash and getting half-full gas tank out. Would like to get all sheet metal from firewall back today but we're see. I'm taken pictures along the way and will be posting soon..
Thanks Unholy but state of Ohio states is screwed up. Can't take whole body to metal place with handing over title. Found one place that will take one foot past firewall back w/o any front end parts. Even then they can't be to big and need to be manageable pieces.

Callred Ohio is crazy haha. Check my build. You can see how I took mine apart. I took every wire connection off and unbolted everything from the firewall. Once there was nothing connected to the firewall and the wiring harness was removed I lifted the body off the frame using my famlies big wrecker. Once the body was off, you can see the master cylinder for the brakes layed over to the side. Once I finish with the basic structure of the cockpit area I will be reattaching the brakes, gas pedal etc... Ill make some pictures of the A/C unit before and after pics. Im cutting the original box for the A/C but I am cutting it down so that it will fit. I will loose some of the fancy features of the A/C like the defrost but atleast when I turn it on Ill have two vents that will blow cold and hot air into the cabin.

Oh and I agree with Unholy about trusting me. I learned to weld and fabrication from him....

Seems I have a bat in my belfry

Update: Caprice body has been cut off frame and body in my garage. Sorry for my photos yet I've been down because of minor surgery. Once the photos are loaded to computer I'll get them posted.
I need more room in garage so looking at 10X16 garden shed to get motorcycles, movers and things out of workspace. Plus maybe have frame sandblasted and extra wheelbase welded to save me little time..

Hopefully the surgery went well and that no real complications arose. When do you expect the body to arrive if it hasn't already?

Do I look like someone with a plan? 0_o

Sorry for delay in posting :/
The Caprice body has been cut off frame (in many, many pieces). The body was really rusty and only had 4or5 body mounts holding body on. Frame looks rusty but I beat on it good with hammer so it's fine. Was going to sandblast it but going to use wire brush & grinder to do it right (more on that in my build).
Body is in my garage but takes up half of it So next step is to buy 10X16 or 20 lofted garage shed. That will get movers and motorcycle and most of junkie stuff I blocked from photos. Than I can put the body and frame side-by-side. It's going to be slow going for next month then I should start showing that I'm doing stuff lol
The front seats not only fit in trunk and yes I had full leg room..

Cutting off body was awesome

Here's the frame when all was finished, took couple days

Here's the body sitting in my garage

p.s. everything went well with surgery by the way

Q) Where should I cut the rear of frame at?
