Thanks for your reply while that makes sense about the squares it still does not explain how the grooves on the far left and far right are angled up and down. Now the small crossblock has this feature in the generic picture. Perhaps the model pictured does not have this cosmetic feature but the model we want does. Also in the pictures seen in the thread "Custom Tumbler Build" the front wheels clearly say 92/15.0-15. Are you certain that it is model number 31189? And not model number 31169 or 31191? As the only difference is the diameter and they only differ by 1 inch.

first off "custom tumbler build" is NOT one of the movie cars so it can't be used as reference for parts. Also their are inconsistencies between all 6 of the movie cars. That said all the pictures of movie cars (I've seen) where you can see the tire size, the tire is 94/15.0-15 also the tread compound is D20, which eliminates 31169 and 31191 so 31189 fits best. I'm not sure what your seeing as different on the angled tread. Depending on how the tire is mounted the angled treads can be on either side. What would be best is to print some pictures of the tires and go to a tire shop that sell these kind of tires and look at an actual tire.

Here are some photos of actual screen used Tumbler tires that I own. Note that one tire is worn much more than the other. This is due to alignment issues they had which later corrected. Sorry for the lousy photos, they are being stored since I closed my museum and are deep in a cluttered corner. I will try and pull them out in a few days and get some better photos

Nice full scale tumbler tires! I wish I can find a smaller version for mine.

Can anyone post some info on V-drives used in this application. I've seen at least three re-productions using them but looking for who sells them and specific models that would work!

drag boat city sometimes have some good sales on their site. http://www.dragboatcity.com/parts/index.html
they have one right now, used, for $1350. they're pretty expensive new or used. (Twice the price mentioned here new) eBay sometimes has great deals if you look out for them. These guys have some nice products but billet and pricey.
Vdrive is great for replica correct but I'm a HUGE fan of Big Daves inline idea. (and making it work)
