Bean is awesome. Shaggy is awesome. Dave is awesome. As everyone else is from T-man to Doo Hee to Jack to Justin to Rusty to Nitro to fareals and so on and so on....

Sorry for the cliche (awesome). but that's what the guys on this site are....awesome.

There are days where you forget how great this site is and how much it helps the build....then there's days like this where you see positive re-enforcement and encouragement...it reminds of one of the reasons I'm here.

thanks for all your input as always.

I'm hating my day job these days.  I know...it pays the bills and pays for my parts and all, but i haven't been in my cave doing anything for about 2 weeks now. I lost alot of time WAITING FOR PARTS FROM SOMEONE WHO KEPT TELLING ME THEY'D BE SOMEWHERE AND THEN NOT SHOW UP, CALL OR ANYTHING. I've learned my lesson on that one.

so in an effort to save time (and alot of work) I'm going to use a 13HP Horizontal Honda instead of the vertical 14 HP Briggs (Anybody want it?).

i'm bidding for this guy hopefully I'll win it.  It's not an electric start, although I'm sure there are kits that will let me make it so. There are also tons of Mods for this to bring out the low end torque that I think I'm going to need.

oh man that sucks ... but you might still want to hold on to that motor thow because of that gearbox ... or sell it on ebay. are you going a torque converter or just a simple clutch? Might I make a humble suggestion, A comet 40 series ..

Hey Conrad, we had that same engine on the streaker cart from my childhood days.  Those 13hp Honda's are some torquey little spuds.  And VERY reliable if i do say.

Ours had both pull start AND electric start.  The starter if i'm not mistaking was foward of the pulley gear where the belt attachs.   I'm pretty sure making it electric start would be no problem once so ever.

GOOD LUCK! :d

so as i try to get my motor, I get my axle ready for welding brackets and mounts to it. The brackets for the fourlink are pretty much ready to go but I didn't know where to put my shock brackets - cause uh.... -DUH!!! I DON'T have SHOCKS!!

So with the links in place my original spot for the shocks won't work. I still must have them in the standard Tumbler config (angled, bolted to top rear hoop). I'm very close to completion so i decided to ditch the wood i was using for stand ins and get the real deals. So i was looking at dunebuggy.com and saw these.

At first i was like YES!! here's what i need...then i saw the cost for a pair and said...HUH? For a pair? I have 500 bucks bugeted (for a PAIR shipped). No way...this cannot be the price for a pair of shocks that's going to be primary chassis top support for an off-road vehicle. what the hell? I called the place and some dude confirmed that these are just shocks to add on to something that already has support or something like that. Which was fine because I was prepared to pay for what i needed....and here it is

i ordered 2 yesterday. the springs will set me about 150 over budget but it's worth it to have what will work.  I learned something new yet again and had a nice conversation with a guy at MooreParts (in CA) about spring rates, spring travel and the like. each uses a set of 2 different sized springs (70 bucks per set). i will be ordering the springs (Eibach) in about a week or so...right now I need these bad boys to mock up mounts for 'em on the axle. CAN'T WAIT TILL THEY GET HERE!
