Hay conrad...I was studing your side picture and it seems that you could go back with your axle almost 8 inches without loosing alot of the look, keep in mind the air intake infront of those back tires, and the little wing/plates mounted above and behind the air intake...in the event that the rear tires are to far back, you can use those two plates as a sort-of fill in to compinsate for the gap when your placeing them on..

motor mount

the placement for this mount was done with the hondGX620 motor in mind, should I decide (and afford) to spring for it.

here's the briggs and stratton's general position on the mount. the vertical shaft has a belt pully on it now, but that will be coming off in the coming days. you can see from the picture how the extra gears and shaft will line up with the transmission shaft.

hay C that moter sounds awesome but I couldn't tell you whats wrong exacly but I'll ask my neighber next time I see him, he works on small motors at work....but I am concerned about your set-up for the moter mount...as a rule of thumb you want to mount the motor to the frame of the rear, for two reasons  1) so you dont get any flexing in the chain. 2) with the motor bouncing around it helps the oil slosh around and lub things up better. If you could ,draw up a simple sketch and scan it, then post it, I wana see your plan...I would hate to see you put so much time and work in to it and something  snaps and breaks on the first test.

Hey Conrad nice work....I had an old truck that required starting fluid to get it running every morning. The engine on the truck was worn out. All the tolerances were not as tight as original.

On the truck I wasn't going to rebuild the engine. So I used an oil additive I believe it was Miracle oil" to help the  create better compression. I used a hotter spark plug and used a gasoline additive to increase the octane in the gas. I replaced the spark plug wire with a copper wire for better conductivity.Changed the air cleaner to increase the airflow to the engine. As I tried each item it started running better and better.

I got another year out of that engine without using starting fluid before the bearings wore out. So starting fluid helps raise the octaine level to compensate for low spark, low air or low fuel ignition....Just a thought, hope that helps....Dave

hay conrad ..I talked to my neighber and he said that they come across that problem some times and instead of fixing it they just go buy another carborater...sorry I couldn't be more help...you might try asking that place where you got the axle...also be sure to clean out the air filter ,if you have an air compresser or buy a new one.

Hey Max...yeah...no muffler...maybe I should keep it that way? haha

T-Man...I think you said the motor mount should be mounted to the frame....well i'm not quite done with all the bracing but that was my intention....to mount it to the round tubing and have additional support bars going down to the frame.

And buying a new carb, huh? well so far I've spent 0 dollars on the motor and about 70 bucks for the shaft gears...let's see how far i can get with the little extras I have to do to get it to start every time.....if I get a year out of it...i'll be happy.

Dave...some of those ideas, particularly the spark plug and fuel additive DID come across my mind and I will be doing those things.
