Tomorrow I'm hoping to cut the brackets for the shocks. Wish I had 4 shocks right now but only have 2. I can still use what I have to fabricate the mounts though. More pics tomorrow!!

Ok guys don't laugh...The GOP speach is boring me.

After playing with all the bends i thought "man the panels are gonna be a pain..."

looking good Conrad! If the turn radius is too big you could always drive it like a snow mobile i.e. gun it so the rear end slides around. Thats more fun anyway

What are you planning to build the body panels out of?

HOLY SMOKE, i can now say that i have seen the first 1/2 scale panel built, ever, and i am totally thrilled with it!

I hope my panel desings dont give you too much headache .   OH and im sure you know, but i just wanna make sure, the "gap" in that panel is actually suppose to be taped together, it helps create the proper bends.

Please dont take offense if you already knew , just trying to help

OH, and a tip that i have learned, score the edge, it will make the bend easier, and ALWAYS score to the outside.

E.I.  if the bend goes inwards towards the car, score the face that you are gonna see, if the bend comes away from the car, score the inner face that you dont see.    This makes things hella easier in the bending process. On my 1/6 scale i couldnt score the small card stock paper, so i used a 59¢ pizza cutter, and rolled hard against all the lines, this made the bends much easier.

Last but not least, i must warn you when you go to build the main cabin, there is gonna be a section of the roof that is gonna be just a few inches short (cant tell you how much, i just know its short)  Simply cut that bend, and add 1 or 2" of cardboard in that area.   Simple fix i promise.

I didnt find that out until about 3 weeks ago, myself

Outstanding work!!!  With the amount of detail and quality that you are putting into this one I can only guess how nice the full scale version will be.  Simply awesome!!!

Thanks Chilebean! Will definetly take your advice about fishtailing the rear! fun indeed! I haven't really decided on what to make the body out of....maybe wood?

Shaggy I can't thank you enough for your sharing the panel design. No offense taken AT ALL. When you say "score the edeges" you mean cut, but not all the way? Anyways I'm about 2 or 3 months away (i think) from starting the body. Since this is "go-kart" style there will be no top cabin. I'm thinking of just doing the sides and back.....somehow.

Jack I look up to you, Rusty and other veterans that have been at this for a while and your comments are most encouraging. thanks a million.

I haven't heard from the shop that's helping me with the full scale model. That's the shop where i wanted to use the plasma cutter. so since I don't want to waste a day, I will begin cutting the brackes using my grinder with cut off blades.
