ok, I unfolded the rest of the panels. And built what I had out of paper just to be sure. It fits pretty well, nothing that will be hard to adjust at full scale.

this is pretty exciting for me because this will be the first 3D model of mine that is turning into something tangible.

BWD, you can have it if you want it but its kind of filmsy. I just used regular paper.

I borrowed an overhead projector to transfer all the panels to cardboard but after about 15min of adjusting and measuring the image was still too distorted for me to alow. Maybe if you had a clear wall in a large enough room where you could get more than 8' away it would be better. So I'm using the slower grid method to transfer.

They do make "trace projectors" that should work better.

Hey man, I keep looking at your paper model and loving it.  I just need to ask...how did you get the body into the 3d App? did you hand draw it? Was it scanned in? Once this body is digitized, so much can be done. I just wonder how you got it that way.

Conrad, I built my tumbler by poly modeling. Basically I make a square plane and extrude the edges and move the vetcies around untill its where I want it. It's basically sculping with triangls and squares.

First though I use the "blue prints" for basic reference, and set up some rulers of the variouse known measurements. The first parts I made were the tires becase we know the size and location of those.

I go back and forth between the model and reference photos. Heres a couple images that may help.

excuse the expression but dude, that's awesome.  Knowing the wheel sizes helps with the overall build of the model...it sure shows. Short of having all the dimensions and measurements, I have to say that your method looks the most effective to getting the right size. I'm constantly estimating and using information from the DVD and Team Aussie. the 15ft x 9.5ft x 5ft is what I generally started with. Without this kind of software it's kinda hard to get it exact, but I'm not necessarily looking to be exact...as you've said in past posts...80-85%.

you, dave and shagg would make great neighbors.

Thank you for sharing.
