Like I just said...I want to keep the orginal frame concept...So i will do that...with the following small-big modification. I classify this as "Modification B.W.D." Not afraid to admit others are smarter than me. I am merely a student - as the title of my thread suggests.

The weld on the square tube looks great!
I'm not a pro but I've found that when I weld a pipe or any circles, if I take it in sections of an inch or two and then reset myself and repeat, that helps me a lot.
The arches for BWD's swing arms looked weird to me at first but I really like them now that they're welded up and you can see how the strength of the arch will work.
Out of curiosity what tubing bender are you getting? I've been looking into getting one myself.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=weloWIzurqU hey Conrad, maybe this will help you with your welds, this guy is a genious when it comes to what he does, and he explains WHY he is doing it too, his videos are a bit on the strange side, but the point does get accross. Hope this helps with "welding tips" n all. Shagg

OK...off the subject of Batmobiles....but rightly so...check out this custom computer that computer-choppers.com fabbed a couple of years ago. they say it's not in production anymore but that doesn't mean WE can't make one. This is so awesomely hot I can't stand it. I want one NOW. I'm definitely going to make one soon. Check out the hard drives with logos in the 2nd PIC.

hey...Well an announcement. I won't be done with my chassis in february. I'd like to but I'm being realistic. I'm doing this right. doing my homework. If I'm doing this myself, I need to hone my welding skills. The arc stick is great. I'm at work and don't have the pics of the plates i've been welding so will post later. Think I've got that down. The buzzbox is a keeper for heavy duty jobs like mounts and shafts and some out of position welds, but I'm not getting very far or doing that great with the round tubing. However, I STILL don't have the MIG yet and won't for another month. I'm told that it's much better to do tubing with the MIG than a stick and people rarely use stick for tubing. Since I've never touched a wire feed welder yet and am very serious about accomplishing this myself, I'm delaying my goal date of February and making the goal April or May. I am registering for a MIG welding class that starts in February. goes for about a month. By then I will have all my tools - including the MIG welder and will have been practicing on my own for a couple of months already (so i can come in less of a novice and show up the class members! JK of course!). This way I've taken my time, got all my tools and will be more knowledgeable and better equipped to start the chassis. The class will also give me the opportunity to use their testing equipment on some of my pieces. Very excited. and so it goes...
on the tool front, I ordered a Pro-Tools notcher and should be receiving it tomorrow or early next week.
