| Thanks to Batgod's pix of the interior mock up I started wondering about how the windows were installed. Here is a picture of that interior and it seems that the windows are installed the way Rusty did his. With screws. 
So I looked at other pictures. These are from the cars that Dave photographed. It seems it was done the same way (Screws with washers). 
So which one had the bolts? Any?

The screws look grand but those red rings round them would just drive me mad.

| Jack, I was there at the cars of the stars thing in Gatlinburg. When I told the owner he had a recast of my sonar statue on display, he let me roam for free. Those windshields on that thing made for interior shots were CURVED from top to bottom, not a flat piece of plastic.

Curved windows: top to bottom is what I'd like to do. I'm just worried that would make it more difficult to get working wipers!

| Hey Bob, I remember you telling us that a long time ago. I would agree that the glass is curved, the pictures prove seem to that. Unfortunately complex curved glass is not something that most of us can do, so we install flat plexi glass. Remember most if not all of us are not professional sculptors (except you and Bobby). Heck I've said it before I wish I had an ounce of yours and Bobby's talent. The glass in Bobby's forever car looks amazing. So how is the glass installed? I can remember Kevin saying he did his like the real car. I know he countersunk the screws and used nuts. Well I did mine the same way but now I can't find any evidence that that is how it was done for the movie cars. It seems to me that the way Rusty did it is more the way it was done. At least by the pictures. Kevin want to shed some light on this one?

Although I must say - we should be more concerned with how it SHOULD have been done (or how it WOULD have been done if the Batmobile were 'real') than how the movie FX guys did it. That is my thought, anyways.
Eddie Paul has a vacuum former machine thingy that he uses after he has scultped the wooden buck, to heat and form plastics to correct shaped for body panels, windscreens, etc. He build his Pixar cars on this machine. Since I saw it, I have been thinking about how we could make CURVED windscreens fairly easily if someone has access to one of these things.......

| I was thinking more like....How can I do it in my garage? But it's nice to know how the original guys did it, if for nothing else than to satisfy ones curiosity. Great idea Justin. Maybe he can make Nate a set and we can see how it looks.

| true, curved windshield thing is not the easy route to go. Idealy you would want a canopy that has a ridge countersunk to accept the windshield, then a coinciding mold for casting water clear urethane - deaired. Or a buck for doing the same thing in vacuform. I think it's good to build your cars the best way you know how know, then in the future - gradually upgrade. I thought I also saw a couple layers of windshield with some space between. I developed a special technique for the 95 car windshield. I you were to run your fingernail from the windshield across and into the body, you can't feel the change from windshield to body. The fit is seamless. Can't feel any fine line between the two.
