OKAY I was really shocked when I was reading the April 06 issue of Street Rodder. In an article about the legendary custom car builder, Carl Casper was a shot of the 89 (see attached). Now a long time ago someone on this board told me that Carl was involved with the project. Being the non-believer that I am I sort of just said really that's cool. Well here it is in print. So is it true?

Bob showed me the same article this weekend when I was visiting. I just couldn’t believe it, doesn’t any of the editor’s even bother to check out any of the stories before they go to print. What a load of crap, it is funny that some one is taking credit for Barris work, usually he is taking credit for everyone else’s work.

Let me just say that...

One... Carl HAS built all of those cars.

(but I've built a General, 6 Spilner Eclipses, 2 Robocop cars, 20 or 30 Knight Rider (spelled correctly) cars, a XXX GTO and bike, Bond cars, Batmobiles and cycles and Megaforce tanks too. But I'd have had to be a 6 month old whiz kid to have built the screen used Batcycle and a pre-teen prodigy to have made the original General.)

Get my meaning here?

Two... Carl has the licensing to show all of these cars.

Most importantly... three...

Carl and Steve M. have built the best damn 89 I've ever seen. The tri-color batmobile.

You want to know who's the "Best" builder???

It's Carl... hands down.

The rest of us suck compared to these guys. Carl's putting 20K paint jobs on his cars and gold plated hinges and wiring.

Every other builder (myself included)is just trying to make a buck here and there selling cars we like to make instead of making fibreglass lawn furnature or 8 foot lawn bird baths.

Steve M. showed me more tricks about the 89 than Jay or Silent Bob ever did.

Carl's also the guy who built all of those cool cars like the Mysterion back in the days that I was building car models from Revell and Monogram as a kid. There is limitless talent there and if he wants to tour an 89 and the studios will let him?...

I say "go for it!"

I've got a shirt with a builder's name on it that shows 12 of his most famous cars...

Funny... he only actually built 2 of them.

Just a matter of perspective as far as I'm concerned.

"Where does he get those wonderful toys?"
He MAKES them you idiot!

3:25 am in the morning and got nothing to do at work besides waiting for some troubleshooting calls and babysitting some extrusion and flexographic machines.

Links is an interesting log to the Black Beauty...also Barris taking credit. What about that Bruce Lee?? I'm a BIG fan.

With all due respect to Carl, it's still not one of his designs even if he built 10 of them.

"Last we leave you with a look at one of Carl's latest designs. This sinister-looking ride is actually the crime-fighting machine used by Batman in the "Batman Returns" motion picture."

They also very clearly imply that this was the actual car used in the motion picture.

Does anyone have pics of the 89 that Carl and Steve built? I'd liek to see what the top of the line came out looking like.
