Bob as nice as it would be to have real glass or do the molded widows that's not the way the original cars were done. The originals where all just put in with rivets or screws. Kevin actually did a great job of replicating the method on his car. Here are a few pictures of the original cars from screen shots and close ups.

| I see, but the rivets that you are showing are in the INSIDE. And thats what you would still have to do(or something to hold it only from the inside). On page 2 of this post, I see no rivets from the outside, and I still see a curved windshield(top to bottom). in the movie I see a curved windshield in the shot where they stop and he says "lets go". At the car of the stars museum in gatlinburg, where they have a screen used sectional of the cockpit, the partial windshield is curved from top to bottom. Are you saying that you think the original is a flat piece of plastic? someone do a screencap of the scene I am talking about. Maybe I've gone mad...

Kevin post a picture of your windows before and after bodywork. I added a lip to my canopy so I could use real glass but now I'm thinking I just need to do it Kevin's way. Of course that's not high on my list of things to do right now. I'll see if I can grab a screen capture.

Yep it's curved and the center slot in the hood doesn't look like its cut out. (Bob what happened to the belts?)

Here is a before and after pictures of the canopy, if done properly you will not be able to see the screw heads. I did mine the same way the real car was done and even spaced the screws the same distance as the real car.

Yes, jack you will need my belt to go with that buckle. Go ahead and cast that buckle as a 2 part mold so it will always come out hollow like the one I sent ya. Remember there is a button that opens the belt, and it will cover one opening in the center. Not sure what your mold making experiences are, but if making this mold procedure seems unclear, let me know and I will walk you through it.
Ya, that's the scene. I take that car to be the "original". so the windsheild is curved. I have met a few of the folks that worked on that movie, and they never take short cuts on anything, especially if it's visual. From the pics just posted I also see some sort of trim between the windshield and the rivets (hard to explain). I also see that in the scene that jack posted ( this is where I first noticed the curve) is how much the windshield sits in from the edge of the canopy. This gives the car a finished proffesional look. You want your canopy to come out of the mold looking like that. This is a very extensive process, but once you have this in hand you will be damn glad you did. This kind of thing is right up my alley.
Not sure if this "curved" windshield thing got changed inbetween Batman, and batman returns. The story in the making of Batman returns movie book was that they "refurbished" it with U.S. wiring/electrics as opposed to U.K. wiring, then if I remember right refinished it(I could be wrong), and added some stuff. I remember Tom Culnan telling me (he was there on the set of Batman Returns) that the hero car was very shiny. Tom Culnan was a friend of mine who built the catwoman outfit for M.Phiffer. He passed away a few years ago. We used to talk on the phone quite frequently about the Batman movies. Many stories.

I believe the stuff between the window and the canopy is just black automtive welt. Same stuff used on the edges of seats and between fenders of very old cars (30s).

I used a soft automotive rubber between the glass and the frame. Here is a digital picture of the #1 car.
