Thanks brother. It's a lot of work to make the body from scratch for sure.

Well, stuck here in Maui until April, so I will try to post a few videos of What Theman and I worked on at his shop earlier this summer. Here's the first one, Setting the distance for the rear wheels.

For some reason this link now leads to another video, not sure why. So deleted. Sorry

The rear axle is from a Hummer. Theman is working on the connecting suspension while I'm stuck here. Lucky guy.

You and THEMAN really did accomplish a lot in 2021. Looking wicked.
What brand of tires did you end up with on the rear? vertigo

I think they're the same agricultural tires that are on the movie car, only a slightly smaller size to go with our size reduction to make the car street legal. Front tires will be a different brand though because they don't make that tire in the size we need.

I'll post another video next week, so stay tuned.

Working on cutting down the rear pillars of the Corvette donor car for the installation of the rear rollbar. We made a mockup of the rollbar in pvc pipe to get an idea of space and size.

Vertigo posted an interesting article about using a hotwire to cut foam. Here is a short video using my homemade CNC machine to create one of the front side boxes on the DOJ Batmobile.

hey sly,
I love to watch CNC operated machines.

Couple of questions:

What kind of foam did you use to route your pieces from? What kind do you recommend for a new builder?
I have seen several car builds being routed from Home Depot purple and/or pink foam sheets that were glued up in laminations. Other users of foam for routing say that foam needs to have a minimum deformation index of 65. Is it correct to assume that the deformation index is a PSI point where the foam dents or distorts?

Routing foam generates a lot of dust. How have you controlled the foam dust problem? vertigo

What kind of foam did you use to route your pieces from?
I use 2" 150 pink Panther foam. I could glue a couple of pieces together but I haven't done that. Have to make sure it is secured to table because it will warp a little as it is carved if you aren't careful.

What kind do you recommend for a new builder?
It's tempting to use the cheaper white foam, but it is not as dense and doesn't give good results imo.

Routing foam generates a lot of dust.
Yes it does!! and what's worse is, it is static clingy, so it sticks to and covers everything.

How have you controlled the foam dust problem?
In the video you can see the dust shoe attachment on the router with the brush bottom. It connects to a shop vac after running through a dust collector. Dust collector needs to be emptied after every run.

hey sly,
Just finished going over the different types of foams and coatings.
What coating(s) and application methods would you recommend to a new builder who is considering using foam to make master parts and molds for bat vehicle parts, panels, etc.?
