Who has bought a '89 body kit from Doug Hines?
I heard that one front wheel arch is not centered, who can tell me more about this?
How bad is it and how did you corrected this? (photos please!)
I'm worried about this mistake in the body, because if you relocate it then the distance to the front of rear changes so I assume it's not identical anymore to the other side.

Is it really off like this?

Hello Diante,
I have one of Doug's bodies in my garage. I've been cleaning out garage so I can start my build this fall. I'll be building a custom chassis and need measurements soon. My body is 6 years old and he told me some mold changes was done for rear wheel opening at the time. Don't know if any changes from that time. He say that drivers side is 1" wider in the rear.
I'll lay tape down center of body then the wheel opening to see if they are square, I'm not holding my breath though, lol

I bought an 89 Batmobile from him fully built and it s a nightmare. Poor workmanship. In fact it was dangerous to drive. I have had to have it rebuilt.

My rear wheel arches are 2 different sizes. I don’t know why they’ve done that

There are some slight adjustments that you will need to do around getting the wheel openings centered. Which one you need to adjust will all depend on how you position the body on the chassis.
Do you best to get it as close as you can, then you'll need to do some slight cuts and reforming.
The car was a scuplt and then molds pulled off that sculpt. So EVERYTHING is going to be slightly off and not perfect.
I wouldn't get too worried about the adjustments of the wheel openings. Do your best to get them to look pretty good. You'll need to get familiar with fiberglass work, because you'll need to adjust and fabricate a TON of things around the car. The wheel arches are the least of your worries

Thanks for all the reactions!
I made a big down payment to Doug for a '89 body kit.
Once paid fully (soon), I will let him fabricate the body in the beginning of next year, so I will get it in the beginning of spring, so I can work on it when it's not so cold anymore.
I don't have a garage, so I need to work on the body in my back garden.

Hi Diante, good observation. Planning to talk to Doug about a kit this year as well! From what I read he does have the best kit on the market. I'd even make the journey from Canada's west coast to Ohio to get a good straight kit like his.
Have you mentioned to him anything about the wheel wells?
I wouldn't expect any body to be perfect since it is just fiberglass molds, and molds that were pulled about 10 years ago. But I don't want to hack the whole body apart either.
Hopefully all goes well and I hope to see us both starting a build thread in the future.
If there are any metal parts you need let me know and maybe with some help I can make something up with my equipment.
