Given their significant involvement with several current Bat Vehicle builds it very likely that 3D printers will continue to be even more involved in future Bat Vehicle builds.
Here is an outstanding book written in plain English without all the techno jargon that covers the principles and construction techniques of building 3D printers.

SSC Tuatara Set Top Speed Record On Regular Michelin Tires
That's Right. Regular Michelin Tires.

SCC tested the tires under load before attempting the run.
Top speed records are pointless when nearly every public road has a
speed limit. However, that doesn’t stop automakers from trying to go
faster than the other guy, and SCC is no different. The company set a
new record earlier this month with its Tuatara, averaging 316.11 miles
per hour (508.73 kilometers per hour) over two bidirectional runs, and
the supercar did its on stock rubber – Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2
tires.

That's Right. Regular Michelin Tires.

UTQG: 180AAA, SPEED RATING: Y, CLASS: XL, An excellent tire for racing enthusiasts, the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 provides your sports car or exotic vehicle with superb dry grip and keen handling. This summer tire delivers competition performance using a bi-compound technology, one that features an endurance racing compound in the outer tread and a rigid elastomer in the inner tread. The tire can withstand extensive laps, as its built with Michelins Track Longevity Technology that combines a special variable contact patch and reinforced shoulder construction. Thanks to this increased durability, the Michelin Pilot Sports Cup 2 UHP tire can help your sports car achieve optimal track results.
These tires range in prices from 300-770.oo.

Placed a copy of this post here for anyone planning to and or building a Bat Vehicle.
This is the best introductory book I have read on 3D printers.
CNC-Designing 3D Printers - Genuine or cheap parts.
by Neil Rosenburg
"Why are genuine products/parts more expensive? It is often the case that only the originating inventor/maker truly understands the design intent of fine details. It is equally true that these fine details are frequently the "magic" that makes it work right. The extra care plus the cost of development, testing, refinement are built into the true cost of the product.
WHY COPY CATS ARE RISKY
A copy cat producer's primary motivation is to make something as cheaply as possible.
Their engineers may not fully understand why certain features, dimensions, materials, and etc. were designed as they were in the genuine article. They also may not be skilled enough to accurately reverse engineer the target product. It may even be that their own vendors cut corner for the very same reasons."

The more complex and tolerance dependent the part/assembly is, the more likely you are likely to get burned with a copy cat or cheap similar part/assembly. Usually, materials, dimensions, alignments, function, integration, all suffer.

WinSun showed the world that they are the leading company when it comes to large 3D printing because just after 10 months, they 3D printed a 5-story residential building and the world’s first 1,100 square meter villa complete with internal and external decorations.

The 3D printed villa was designed for Tomson Group, a well-known Taiwanese-owned real estate company and it only costs $161K USD.

Received an email today asking about 3D modeling methods.
This information posted on Wikipedia presents a very description of the subject.
Part One
Modeling
3D printable models may be created with
computer-aided design (CAD) package
3D scanner
A plain digital camera and photogrammetry software

3D printed models created with CAD result in relatively fewer errors than other methods. Errors in 3D printable models can be identified and corrected before printing. The manual modeling process of preparing geometric data for 3D computer graphics is similar to plastic arts such as sculpting.

3D scanning is a process of collecting digital data on the shape and appearance of a real object, creating a digital model based on it.

CAD models can be saved in the stereolithography file format (STL), a de facto CAD file format for additive manufacturing that stores data based on triangulations of the surface of CAD models.

STL is not tailored for additive manufacturing because it generates large file sizes of topology optimized parts and lattice structures due to the large number of surfaces involved.

A newer CAD file format, the Additive Manufacturing File format (AMF) was introduced in 2011 to solve this problem. It stores information using curved triangulations.

Part Two
Printing

Before printing a 3D model from an STL file, it must first be examined for errors. Most CAD applications produce errors in output STL files of the following types:

holes
faces normals
self-intersections
noise shells
manifold errors

A step in the STL generation known as "repair" fixes such problems in the original model. Generally STLs that have been produced from a model obtained through 3D scanning often have more of these errors as 3D scanning is often achieved by point to point acquisition/mapping. 3D reconstruction often includes errors.

Once completed, the STL file needs to be processed by a piece of software called a "slicer," which converts the model into a series of thin layers and produces a G-code file containing instructions tailored to a specific type of 3D printer (FDM printers). This G-code file can then be printed with 3D printing client software (which loads the G-code, and uses it to instruct the 3D printer during the 3D printing process).

Printer resolution describes layer thickness and X–Y resolution in dots per inch (dpi) or micrometers (µm). Typical layer thickness is around 100 μm (250 DPI), although some machines can print layers as thin as 16 μm (1,600 DPI). X–Y resolution is comparable to that of laser printers. The particles (3D dots) are around 50 to 100 μm (510 to 250 DPI) in diameter. For that printer resolution, specifying a mesh resolution of 0.01–0.03 mm and a chord length ≤ 0.016 mm generate an optimal STL output file for a given model input file. Specifying higher resolution results in larger files without increase in print quality.

Creating original files in CAD can take many hours to create.

3D Laser Scanners can create a usable files in an hour, or so, saving hundreds or thousands of CAD work hours. (Need something that exists in physical world. A model, existing form, or something similar.)
3D laser scans may also be used with CAD to create hybrid or combined files.

3D Scanners
3D Laser Scanning is a non-contact, non-destructive technology that digitally captures the shape of physical objects using a line of laser light. 3D laser scanners create “point clouds” of data from the surface of an object. In other words, 3D laser scanning is a way to capture a physical object’s exact size and shape into the computer world as a digital 3-dimensional representation.

3D laser scanners measure fine details and capture free-form shapes to quickly generate highly accurate point clouds. 3D laser scanning is ideally suited to the measurement and inspection of contoured surfaces and complex geometries which require massive amounts of data for their accurate description and where doing this is impractical with the use of traditional measurement methods or a touch probe.
