hey THEMAN,
Miss the days when you used to post a lot.
Love your work and attention to details.
Will be looking forward to seeing some photo-images of your progress.
Hey by the way, what kind of lathe is your 13-foor lathe.
What is the maximum work diameter you can work with.
Do you have a photo-images of the lathe.
I'm sure the members on this forum would love to see just how big a 13-feet between centers lathe really is. vertigo

This is a custom built lathe by a very talented machinist from this area. My dad picked this up from his estate auction years ago. You can see its size compared to the 52 Buick 4 door its hiding behind it.
The small jaws are on the head right now, and my other larger unit that I have to hoist onto this sucker for this wheel work goes up to 24" diameter and I have to run the lathe at its slowest pulley combo.

Definitely been too long between updates... sorry folks.
Sly and I have been in updates with each other for our teamup thankfully though. As he stated in the other thread I have the car on the chassis jig now, so ready for the next stages of building out the suspension and cage, with body mounts etc.
The rear tires I got for this are around the 80% scaled size of the originals to match our total build size I laid out early on. So these are similar Agricultural tires to the Alliance, but in 600 width instead of 700. And you can get Alliance in this size 600/50/22.5 for about $1000 each if you go hunting for them to have the same brand they used on the movie car.
Couple other fun silly updates too...
In the Bat TechManual I came across one of the interior shots that show a different shift lever handle. I've IDed it as an ergonomic bicycle handlebar grip. still findable on amazon.
I've also IDed a couple things in the batcave for working on the batmobile... acquired myself the same rolling tool seat they used, but the Kreepster they have is no longer in production.

I wish we could figure out where this part of the dash came from.

Have you tried tweeting to zak snyder or the production crew? These days they just about answer all sort of questions for the fans.
Of course you might get the ire of studio for building the “CAR”.

So Sly and I had a fun couple days on the car...
Did quite a bit of chopping off stuff we didn't need from the chassis, got the body shell he brought out sitting right, and mocked up the rollbar orientation for the cockpit.
Next I'll get the DOM tubing in to start bending and welding...

Love that second pic brother! I'll post a couple of pics I took on my thread as well. I'll reup those vids I sent you and add a few more as well when I get a chance.
Yes, we had a great time! Mostly it was me watching and THEMAN doing all the work, which is just the way I like it.
btw: for anyone viewing this. The rear tires are the ones we will use and are in the correct position. The front tires are in the correct position but are not the tires we will be using. The ones we will use will be about twice as wide as the ones pictured. The rear axle is from a hummer (I think) and will be behind the fiberglass body, just like the original. We are basically using the bottom frame from the corvette but most of the tubing will be very much like it is on the real car.

"I wish we could figure out where this part of the dash came from."
Does your 1/6th DOJ model reveal any details from examination of the cabin interior details?
From my examination of the photo-images this part does not look like it would be very difficult to fabricate in fiberglass, especially, given your recent demonstration of fiberglass working abilities.

Theman thinks he might have an idea on it but yeah, I will make it if needed. Presently looking at making the entire dash structure. We've got a good idea on the electronic componets.
