In the past I would have used a plasma torch to cut the body pieces and panels.
Now, I use metal cutting circular saws to do 99% of my metal cutting of plates, flats, angles, etc. cutting up to 3/8" thick metal with my Milwaukee brand saw.
I am currently fabricating the body of my Tumbler from 1/4", 1/8th", and 12 gage sheet steel.
I am cutting my 1/4" , 3/8", and 1/2" thick metal with my Milwaukee brand metal cutting circular saw.
I am cutting my 1/8th" and 12 gage steel sheet with a Dewalt 20 volt battery 5-1/2" metal cutting circular saw.
Don't need my bigger Milwaukee metal cutting circular saw for 1/8th" and 12 gage sheet steel.
Also, using a Dewalt 18/20 volt battery Saber/jig saw to cut the curves in the 1/8th" and 12 gage sheet steel.
1/8th" sheet steel is the maximum thickness for effective cutting with a Saber/Jig Saw and quality blades.
My Dewalt 18/20 volt battery Saber/Jig Saw with quality blades cuts 1-2 inches per minute
in 1/8th" and 12 gage sheet steel.

Hmmm glad to see some progress man.
Ive looked into a few options myself for cutting too.
How is the battery life on these units?
And do they cut relatively with ease or do you need to give it a bit of a push at times?

Cut with ease in 1/8" plate steel.
If you will be cutting very much 3/16, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2" buy a Milwaukee metal cutting circular saw.
Sell for 300.oo and can cut everything.
Dewalt is more of a luxury wireless trim saw.

Metal cutting circular saw blades don't need lube.
Metal cutting saber/jig saw blades with lubricant last longer.
Saber/jig saw blade life depends more on how tight the curve is you are cutting.
In metal cutting with saber/jigsaw blades you might get 1-3' on a gentle curve or only 1-2" on a tight curve.
Forget about using cheap blades and use only quality blades.
99% of professional contractors cutting metal use only one brand. BOSCH brand.

| Yes, in the power tool world Bosch is probably the best. (and most expensive) Followed closely by Makita and then DeWalt imo. Millwakee is also quite good. Stay away from the cheep stuff, it's not worth it to save a couple of bucks.

Received an email today asking,
"What is the best jigsaw blade for cutting curves in 12 gage to 1/8th" steel plates?"
A very fitting request since my Justice League body panels are being fabricated in 12 gage steel.
For cutting curves in 12 gage to 1/8th" steel plates the BOSCH T121BF3 has no equal.
It cuts 2X faster than it's nearest competitor and lasts 4X longer than any bi-metal blade.
The best blade for clean cutting plexiglass I have found is the BOSCH T102BF.
These top of the premium blades from BOSCH are not cheap.
Both of these blades cost with sales tax around 10.oo for a pack of three.
I buy mine at HOME Depot but they are available anywhere quality tools are sold.
I attached photo-images of the blades in their packaging and a BOSCH blade chart.

So that the paint will stick to the bolt heads. Most paint won't stick to shiny galvanizing.
Here is how I remove the galvanizing.
Drill a row of holes in a piece of 1/4" thick metal.
Put the bolts in the holes.
Use my MAP gas torch to heat the bolt head until the galvanizing vaporizes. Takes around 10-15 seconds each.
(Do this in a well ventilated area. Preferably outside.

When doing metal grinding I use safety glasses, a full face shield, and a N100 3M mask.
Exposure to grinding wheel, rotary stone, and metal dust, will do serious damage over time to your lungs.
