Very nice slysnake, I guess I’m not understanding how you shaped it with a router. Is it computer controlled? Looks like you have some great skills. Would you mind describing how you created this with a router. Thanks in advance BWD

CNC Router. It's a 2'x4' table with moving x,y,z axis controlled by computer. Design is created in a CAD program and translated into computer code by another program that runs the tools path.

There's a museum called the Exploratorium in San Francisco that had an H1 hummer cut out of a block of styrofoam. I'm wondering how big of an item you can cut on your CNC? The detail is very impressive. BWD

First of all, Thanks for looking in on my build thread. It's always nice to be noticed by one of the legends of CLTC.
My table is a DIY job that I have chronicled earlier in this thread. It can carve (theoretically) a 4' x 2' x 6" piece of material. I am using 4' x 2' x 2" sheets of pink foam that I carve individually and then glue together. It's only a 3 axis machine so it can only cut down. (It can't under cut like a 4 axis machine.) So I have to divide the sections so that they can be carved without undercuts. This can be very difficult on pieces with compound curves.
This will be a plug mold. After carving I do some sanding of the foam, coat it with a layer of epoxy resin for strength and to seal the foam, do repairs and finish work with body putty, and make the fiberglass mold from which I can produce the part. It's quite a process.
btw, THEMAN and I are collaborating on this build. I'm making the body parts and he's doing the work on the donor cars, which are c5 corvettes. The original is rear engine of course but our build will keep the engine in the front.

Oh thanks for the kind words but I’m still learning. I like that collaboration because you both bring different skill sets to the project. I remember meeting mark towel at his shop in LA. He was building 89s by stretching C4 corvettes. I was always told you couldn’t stretch a unibody but I’ve seen it done correctly on a couple Lambo kits. It still amazes me how you get so much bang for the buck with a corvette donor. Plus it sounds pretty cool to say you used a corvette as the donor vehicle. I have a couple Lamborghini Murcielago LP-640 kits I plan on using a Porsche Boxster as a donor just to keep it midengine. Thanks for the explanation. BWD

Finished milling the rear section of the main body a couple of days ago and was able to get in and take some pictures today. Here's the whole thing put together. I had to get back quite a bit to get it all in one shot.
Some close ups of the back section...…
And the underside...…
Next I will double check the body for squareness and fix any concerns. Then some light sanding of the foam and seal it with epoxy resin. You can see in the pics I've already sealed some sections because they are a darker color.
After that I'll start applying body filler putty to make a smooth surface and blend things together.
Weather is starting to turn cold here so I don't know how much more time I have.

Finished putting a protective layer of epoxy on the foam and started the work with body putty but it began to rain so had to cut things short today.
