Yes. Dealership quoted me 1200. for clutch and slave installation, which I think isn't too bad considering you have to drop the exhaust and the entire drive train to access it. But we will be replacing all that anyway, right? So I probably should leave it alone. Although I'm dying to drive it around a little.

Exactly... everything from the bell housing on back is yanked out, including your pedal box... an auto tranny and brake pedal goes back in, drive shaft, H2 rear end, all new rear suspension, etc. etc. So putting it back in to drive it kinda just doubles your work since it all has to come out again. Biggest thing is just to make sure everything works when it comes out for resale purposes of the parts.

If you get under there and find a line leaking from master to the slave/tranny before the connector though, it might be an easy enough fix there for you in the home garage.

Yeah, my state has a custom car registration. It seems pretty elaborate.

oh crap, that looks painful compared to our street rod and historic registration process... it almost reads like you gotta grease some palms on the way through.

Took the old foam plugs and the one completed mold to the dump today. Broke my heart, they looked so good. But, gotta make room for the new pieces as I start milling them. Also, starting the tear down of the donor car.

Hey THEMAN, These Corvettes are pretty computer/sensor/electronics heavy. Do you think that will be a concern down the road?

Wish I had seen this. Close to where I live, nicer than the one I bought, less miles, and already torn down. https://www.ebay.com/itm/98-Corvette-C5-Driving-Drivetrain-Chassis-LS1-Engine-w-6spd-manual-transmission/183806403894?hash=item2acbb72536:g:EiMAAOSwwiFc1dDt

Nope, most stuff is easily defeatable/deletable and a simple reflash on the ECU will clear up a lot of the nannies too.

I get what you're saying on a time saving for that other rolling chassis deal, but you will come out way ahead on $$ once you sell off all your excellent condition body panels, driveline, and interior parts.

About this time last year I had the front half of the car main body milled.

I'm a little behind that, but it will go faster this time. I've been studying pictures of the real car next to other cars and I think these new dimensions are going to work out great.

Got a push button starter for the build today. Looks like it fits the "style" of the car, although not "screen accurate".

Continuing tear down of donor car. All body panels except doors have been removed at this point. Removed rear tub today and it was a bear. Only four small screws but it is glued solidly to the frame. Proper way to remove it would be to remove everything under the car and use heat to soften the glue. Or you can do it the way I did..... break it apart.
