They happen because of the 2.5 quality of the machine. It can't under cut so it just goes straight down from the furthest projection. When the model is assembled that appears as a lump or jut's out. I just have to go in and sand it down to the line. Not a big deal.
The ones you see marked with an S on this recent model happened because I milled those parts upside down from the other parts. They have a ledge on them that I would have lost to the same effect if I had milled them the same as the rest. It's easier to sand off the protrusions than to try and carve out that ledge by hand.

OK, I think I've got the steering wheel bottom pattern reproduced in 3d. This picture is to etch the pattern on the bottom of a piece of Plexiglas, that's why the pattern is reversed. It could also be etched on the top of a metal plate fairly easily. Now I need to obtain some etching router bits.

Oooo, nice! Was contemplating doing a sticker version of this to go along with the other steering wheel switch labels... But I like the etched tinted plexi idea.

Weather has turned pretty bad here in the upper Midwest, winter is pretty nasty in this part of the country. Despite that I was able to finish the drivers side rear box. It's still pretty rough and will require a lot of prep work before turning it into a mold, but I have roughed out most of the anomalies so you can get a pretty good idea of what it will look like when done.
Tried a new slicer program with this one. Worked pretty well and very easy to use. For all the parts before this I tried to cut the model in such a way that there was less waste of foam sheets. This time I just sliced the whole thing along one line. There was more waste of material but I was able to get a little better detail. Here's an example. The opening for the side mechanics is fully formed. Before this would have been a filled in solid section like you can see at the ends of the front boxes.
Here's the drivers side front and rear boxes together.

Looking wicked.
What are your current thoughts on doing the side mechanics? vertigo

I think I'm going to try to do them with the Rizoma parts.
btw, almost impossible to get that crankcase slider for the steering wheel and other areas. I have one ordered from Australia but have not heard from the company yet if they really have it. Other places that have it advertised and I have ordered it come back and cancel the order and say they don't have it.

I dealt with this too on my orders of the crank case guard...but it did finally get here. Try looking for a different color, such as gold, as the top cover is still the correct black piece we need, but don't worry too much if you can source one... think I only need to get the controls and I'll have samples of everything here we can at least make replicas from for print or machining. I'll grab you my order source too that did end up getting me the supposed last one Rizoma had at their home base...

Thanks THEMAN. I have ordered it from the link you gave me so we'll see if it comes. How long did it take for him to ship it to you?

Ordered black one beginning of December, we had correspondence about availability issues since its discontinued, and only gold one was left, so that settled out and got ordered around mid December, and it just arrived today. I also had ordered from a couple others in black, but they got cancelled.
