Looky-Looky at what just arrived on my desk! This will make a nice addition to the dash and also act as a "Master Safety" for WCP power to prevent inadvertent firings, launchings or deployments…

I'm surprised no one has noticed the significance of the number of chaffs/flares left.....

Details my friends, details.

Been offline for a few weeks with the closing on the new garage with attached house, coordinating the move of household goods from DC to FL, moving the big truck and cars from the farm in MD, and a also moving a bunch of aviation stuff from TX. Been a massive undertaking, and I am tired and sore to say the least. The good news is I hope to be back on my build later this week. I have about 60 (of 396) boxes left to go through, as well as a few garage improvements specific to my build needs. Looking forward to posting progress on my bluetooth voice controlled handheld remote which will be appropiately Gotham-ized as part of my long list of build projects. I’ll also post some pics of the TBM Avenger throttle quadrants I recently acquired.

Slysnake,

Task 1 was removal of the offending urinal from “her” master bathroom. Working on remounting it in the gararge where it should have been in the first place. Since I already have hot/cold water at a sink out there, figured I would also plumb in lines for an older washing machine to act as grungy clothes/towel washer. Just have to repaint it black...

Rearranging some of the existing cabinets, plumbing in air compressor manifolds, relocating the AC air handler and hot water heater up closer to the ceiling to provide more floor space and doing high lift conversions on the 2 smaller bays in preparation for the 4 post lifts. And then there is paint and flooring. Yeah, a little busy at the moment, but all good as The garage will work iut great in the end.

Heads Up Display (HUD)

I recently picked up this great little HUD that I will wire into the Weapons Control Panel. So, before rework, the question is: Do I mount it on the dash, or hang it from the canopy???

Canopy Emergency Egress System

So, as we have all probably thought about it, let's face it - in an emergency situation, we need to have a sufficient means to rapidly get that canopy open or off and get out? I've see a few ingenious concepts to date by other builders.

So, as I started to mock up some quick release designs, I thought about what to use to actuate said release mechanism. And the first thing that came to mind was a Ejection Seat Handle, so, here it is, off a Martin Baker EJ Seat out of a Phantom...

Now either driver or passenger can go for the grab handle (now with much lighter springs) in the event of an emergency egress situation. As a teaser, Afterburner Pendant, now re-designated as the Gun Control Pendant (still in work) photobombing...

I'll have to see it installed, my imagination is not that vivid. But the concept is intriguing. I'm guessing you don't mean to actually make this functional?

Slysnake,

Yes, this will be fully functional, but a purely mechanical operation. As much as I would like to have CADs, fragmentation cords, and rocket motors, those guys in DOT wouldn't approve of EJ explosives cruising around. The mounting base which is usually attached to the top of the seat will be attached to the top of the canopy. A release cable will be attached to the initiator handle, which will run down to the centerline actuator/slide mechanism interface to disconnect the canopy from the canopy actuator to permit it to slide open manually. Really just a simple and effective design, sorta like the T handle on an in car fire bottle cable, just with a much cooler looking grab handle to pull.

Now I did lighten up the hold back springs significantly and I did grind off the secondary safety detent tabs too to make the “pull” (if ever needed) more fluid.

I will probably also add MS (ground lock) pins to the rear roller interfaces too to permit a quick full canopy removal capability too. I cringe when I see a build with a actuator bolted on both ends with no thought about “what if” emer scenarios.

Grappling Hook Launcher

So, I just came back from a gun show where I was chatting it up with one of my gun parts suppliers and I happened to notice he had a new toy on his table - an air powered grappling hook launcher. So of course, the first thing I say to him is “Can you build a smaller version of that for me for my build?” - and of couse he says, yes - anything for The caped guy's cruiser. With a couple minor alterations to his original design and a resize smaller, I think I might just have another winner here...
