Thanks for the words of encouragement! Yeah, I tend to be a little more on the technical side and I do like the details, then again, in my business, we can't pull to the curb if we have a problem...
I've got a couple interesting things I would really like to do, like JFS/GTP type APU in the back to act as an on-board charger (and also provide the obligatory "afterburner" capability with smoke and/or flame settings), though it creates a few logistical issues with tons of intense concentrated heat, which isn't an issue if there is a prius behind you, but is a serious issue if someone walks close behind you. I've been drawing up a diverter valve to direct the APU exhaust to a diffused exhaust on either side of the burner as a potential option, but there's really not a bunch of room back there to play with.
Worst case, I just have to find space to add more power and will have to watch my range (and right foot). If that's the case, I will run a heavy fuel burner can style afterburner that will have an "on-demand" flame controlled from my throttle grip.

ARG!
Was over at (turbine) buddies place earlier and got to play with one of his GTP30-67 APUs that he has. Even with the APU throttled down to around 65%, this thing was moving way too much CFM of hot air to mount out back and be capable of lighting it off on a regular basis without the risk of doing some serious damage to someone's legs without a diverter valve and diffuser system for normal (non-AB) use.
Plan B now in effect - baby flame maker II, while Plan A is on the back burner (no pun intended), but still on the table with significant additional exhaust work required...

Interested to know what afterburner system you finally decide on when you are finished your testing. ------

Obviously I would prefer a real turbine out back, as it offers the maximum level of realism. My original plan was to use a JFS-100 converted to thrust with an afterburner. This little package makes lots of noise, heat and can produce a pretty impressive flame cone when done properly. The problem is you can't fire it up whenever you want. You first need to ensure there is nothing in the jet blast area that could be harmed or damaged. I then looked at the smaller GTP30s, and even a Tierney, but they still move a lot of really hot CFM. And while I do love my turbines, it’s just not that practicle if you want an effect but don't want to burn someone or something but still have the capability to be able to make some heat on demand.
As my driveline is a complete departure from the norm, I will need a radiator in the back. So, one of my latest thoughts is to make either the top or side scoop(s) functional, direct cold air into a sealed radiator box and then out the centerline 14” tailpipe in back. This would offer large amounts of continuous warm/hot CFM when running, simulating a turbine’s exhaust, but would be (in theory) safe to anything behind it that crossed the blast air path. Add an afterburner nozzle ring, flame holder, continuous igniters, and some kero for that distinctive smell, and you have yourself an on demand burner that is capable of doing some damage when warranted...
We are supposed to close on the new garage with attached house (and apparently undesirable urinal for 1/2 of the new occupants) next week. Hopefully over the holiday I can mock some parts up and try not to burn myself up!

So, a friend of mine, that has Duramax diesel in his vintage drag racer has suggested that I put a rod knocker in my build car, chip it for maximum soot and pipe the exhaust though the centerline tailpipe out back. He figures, if I'm gonna PO people who just don't get it, I might as well go the distance... Beside basic fitment issues, I would have to give up my disk launcher and knee knocker as the motor/xmsn would now be in the way.
Certainly an intriguing possibility, but I really want my disk launcher and knee knocker! Maybe a great idea for a Tumbler or DOJ builder to incorporate...

Looky-Looky at what just arrived on my desk! This will make a nice addition to the dash and also act as a "Master Safety" for WCP power to prevent inadvertent firings, launchings or deployments…
Added a pic of proposed faceplate layout.

Slysnake,
I do get some cool stuff! Wait till you see the sim fire LH and RH feeding (sim fire) M37s. Let me know if you are looking for any cool toys for your build.
Who knows, I may want a 88% DOJ body sometime in the future...

Slysnake,
Lemme take a good look at it.
BTW, is that a curved plastic flowerpot out back?
