sly,
"I have not totally given up the idea of reducing the size of the vehicle, I just want to look at this to see the scope of it."

Are you now leaning towards a full-sized build?

I evaluated the scope of feel for the DOJ using figures of the same scale.
When you view them together you get a pretty good feeling for the depth and breath of their relationship. Especially, if you place them on a rotating turn table and view them from various angles and speeds. vertigo

I decided early in my study of the DOJ/Justice League that I would only build a street legal version, so, no full-sized version for me. I wouldn't build this Bat Vehicle if I could not drive it on public roadways.

If I just couldn't accept the limitations of a reduced scale version and had to have a full-sized movie correct version I would have to accept the limitations of the full-sized movie correct as well.
Can't drive it on the road and special transport restrictions and limitations to take it to a location where I could drive it. Basically, I can only look at it in a static display mode. I might as well have a life-sized movie correct foam replica on permanent display.

I am definitely going for the reduced scale, slightly smaller, and skewed version of this build. vertigo

My mock-up was a 10% reduction and I reached the 8' 6" threshold with a little suspension modification. The only thing I'm a little worried about is interior cabin space. But you two make a convincing argument for a slight reduction. In the Cad/Cam program I'm using it's just a mater of setting the scale to .9 and clicking the button.

OK, I have analyzed the optimum reduction for my situation and have decided that a 12% reduction in size will give me the best results. 10% would work to make the car fit on the road, but the added 2% of reduction allows me to divide my model into 4 sections lengthwise instead of 5. Will have to use a narrow racing seat in the cockpit though, but I doubt I would be taking it on any extended drives anyway.

Hope to have some slices put together to show you by next weekend.

Glad to see you are back on the reduced scale track. Will be looking forward to seeing some milled foam.

Eh, got side tracked this week on some more table maintenance items.

1. Installed cable drag chains to run the cords.
2. Installed a auto Zero switch
3. surfaced the router table.

When you say surfaced the table, what was the material you surfaced it with. vertigo

It means to use a surfacing bit in the router and run it over the table at about 1/32 or 1/16 inch depth to make sure it is perfectly level with the machine.

This week I changed out the 2 start lead screws on the long axis for 5 start lead screws, changed the motor settings to accommodate, and set soft limit limitations (done with the software) on axis travel for safety.

Milled two layers of the first section of the body. Looks good. I will try to post some picks tomorrow.

My first attempt at milling some sections has proven to be unacceptable. The pieces don't line up correctly because I used different parameters for each side when I divided the model up. I need to go back to the model and re-slice it.

On the positive side, the milling itself seems to have gone fine.
