Reviewed my collection of information as it relates to my use of a Dodge Ram 3500 as my donor vehicle choice.
Similar transparant photo-images are found on line for most vehicles and frames and are quite useful for studying many relational aspects of a potential donor vehicle.

Here is an excellent web location that illustrates many building techniques including life size milled foam Bat Vehicles. Very worth a visit with lots to see.

DOJ/Justice League Donor tear down currently rocking along on schedule with my projection report goals for April-2018.
Could go a lot faster with a cutting torch but I am taking my time and using a reciprocating saw with Diablo 24 TPI blades. Using this method has allowed me to preserve wiring, tubing, systems, etc. intact.

The most dangerous risk to stripping down the donor is the gas tank.
Even after draining the 42 gallon capacity gas tank of it's remaining 25-gallons there was approximately a gallon of gas and copious amounts of gasoline/air vapor.
When I tried to remove the straps that secured the gas tank to the frame I found both securing bolts rusted solid. First thought, use the reciprocating saw to cut the straps.
Second thought, the reciprocating saw's motor produces sparks at the brushes. First thought unrestrained equals gas/air vapor explosion and bath in liquid fire. DON'T TAKE ANY CHANCES WITH YOUR LIFE.
I purged my gas tank with CO2 but decided to fill the tank with water and cover the exterior of the tank with wet blankets.

Spending a collective average of one hour per day on both my Tumbler and DOJ/Justice League Bat Vehicles.
Given my current production I believe I may soon have a rolling chassis for both Bat Vehicles. (Depends on how someone describes what makes up a rolling chassis.) vertigo

Nice start vertigo!

I can understand why you're starting with that platform, especially with a tumbler also in progress... I briefly considered the 2500/3500 route for a start on my own, but realized I would need to start with the heavy duty single wheeled rear axle for easier brake upgrade application. wilwood has TX6R Big Brake kit applications that bolt right onto these larger 8-lug hubs on the big 3 US platforms, and looking at their specs puts performance right up there with Brembos in equivalent sizes needed.

I'm guessing you're doing major frame changes, and chopping the cab down to fit low into the new frame config? Are you also doing a true rear triangulated four link, and building out wider width front upper and lower control arms+tie rods+etc? Have you decided what shocks/suspension you're using yet?

Hey THEMAN
Welcome to the forum.
Thanks for the information and your input.
Hope you will join us with your own build log.
Have you actually started to build yet or still in the planning phases.
You don't have to have physically started your build to contribute meaningfully to a build log.
Could start with an introductory post about why you want to build the DOJ/Justice League Bat Vehicle.
Could then add a few posts on how you have solved your build space problems.
Then follow these up with some posts about how you have been researching for this build and
others about the really important things you have learned about doing this build. vertigo

Chose the 3500 for the strength and the title.
Expecting to make major frame modifications.
My Tumbler has a trianglulated four link but might not need one for this build.
Currently plan to widen the front end. (Have been looking at modifying a four wheel drive front end)
Current shocks/suspension are a good starting point. There is enough already there to support a 3000 pound steel body.

I hear knowledge, wisdom, experience, and a lot of build skills in your words.
This is a difficult build with lots of challenges.
Hope you will join sly and myself on this build. vertigo

Wow, you have done some impressive work Vert. Are you saving any of the parts for resale?

sly,
"Wow, you have done some impressive work Vert. Are you saving any of the parts for resale?"

Thanks for noticing and the kind words.

Saving doors, hood, bumper, etc. for resale.

After establishing a well defined set of parameters and studying many different possible donor vehicles for many hours and through a final process of elimination I settled on the Dodge 3500. I am still convinced the Dodge 3500 or similar Ford 350, etc. is still the best fit donor for the DOJ/Justice League reduced scale street legal build and the full-size as well. Unless someone is going to build a movie correct vehicle.

For me, I concluded that my donor should be bought complete and intact for this build.

The process of stripping down the 3500 and spending time in it's presence has been quite stimulating, revealing, and inspirational and has contributed significantly to my eclectic mental picture of the DOJ/Justice League Bat Vehicle. vertigo
