If I was rich like all of you that are building full sized cars I would have the side mechanics CNC routered out of aluminium stock, or cast in metal.

I have no chance of building this car or even helping someone with their build, I live a few states away from the terrible one at Movie World and I got a verbal ass kicking for.. let's just say, getting a little "too" close to the car.

I love the cars. Particularly I'm interested in the #2 car but I have to be honest, I'm probably wasting my time with a dream that'll never come true.

I was sitting here with my couple of gauges thinking it was possible and now I've realised it's not. Good luck to all of you though, I might lurk around to get reference for my studio scale model, even that though is a total POS.

Dude where is this coming from.you have tremendous insight into these cars you come in with drive and see things in a whole new light where us old guys speaking for myself here need a kick in the Ass every once in A while to see what is possible...... We need determination and sheer grit like yours here Just like my favorite Pixar characters said Never Give Up Never Surender To Infinity And Beyond.Anyway look at the dude from Bangkok he has very little in his tumblers and 89 and they look amazing.I myself all most got kicked out of the 2005 Auto show for getting in the hero 89 Car in Saint-Louis when Onstar started doing their promotions with the car. but not before I got some great pictures of the interior the secret fuel cap the buttons on the bottom of the car that opened the canopy the wheel bats the gauges you name it I was all over that car and my wife was shaking her head the whole time but I didn't care this was My dream my moment and it was great. So don't give up on your dream I'm not rich never claimed to be but I have one hell of Toy in my Garage that would rival anything at, Warner Brothers Studio.

i agree with Nitro. . . I'm just an under-paid teacher with a dream. So far, I've been working on mine for almost eight years, and i'm not ready to give up! I've patiently waited until i've been able to find parts that i do not have the skill to create myself. It may take me another eight years to complete (i hope not!), but my goal was to be able to build this car for under $30K. So far so good. . . BUT , i would probably given up already if it wasn't for 'old timers' like Nitro, Kevin, etc. continually posting ideas, and the new fresh ideas and information newer members like yourself bring in. Never give up the dream!!!!!!!!!

To build the impossible dream . . .

It's just not my time to really invest money into building such a thing. I'm 24, I have a few parts, maybe one day I'll get somewhere with a shell and a chassis, maybe not. I'm not giving up the dream, so to speak, I'm more or less being realistic at this stage in my life and putting things on the back burner until it's time.

You, Nitro, really know what you're doing. Just make sure you widen the rear sides and get some chameleon paint or whatever they used on there.

If you have a 3D printer you can grab the models that I uploaded here: https://batberry.wordpress.com/2016/01/10/remaining-side-mechanics-3d-models-uploaded/

These plastic side mechanics look amazing! Has anybody printed out a set? Would love to see a photo!

bttfspencer if you live anywhere near Dayton, Ohio I'll let you build mine You will have the dream someday, Hell I'll let you drive mine around whenever that day comes.
I had the money to buy the shell from Doug (gothamcruisers.com) three years ago (one mile from where I work). Shortly after I found out I had prostate cancer at 51 years old. I had to stop with all plans until a later time. The short story I had it removed 1-2016 then nov-2017 it came back. just got done with radiation treatments and have huge health bills again. The shell is still in the garage even though everyone but wife says sell it and move on.

Talking about side mechanics- Can anyone 3D print the parts and sell them? If not how big a 3D printer is needed to print the parts.

Side note for everyone; have your doctor do PSA blood work when you turn 50. Cancer is better when you found it early.

I've had a chance to see the finished product for Tim's 3d side mechanics. Gotta say-they look great! The set I saw wasn't printed hi-res or smoothed after printing- just printed and painted. They look totally believable. Unless a set of real parts turns up out of nowhere, this is the route I'll be going.
