Today I cut back the suspension 15 inches and installed the driver side wheel cover.

Batmobile

Even with the 15 inch reduction the wheels are looking to be 9' 4" wide. But, looking at it, I think there is room for more reduction. I'm thinking the edge of the wheel cover can line up with tip of the body flare and still be able to pivot.

To test that..... I made the wheels able to turn.

Batmobile

It's pretty much the same kind on mechanism that would be used in real life. Here's a close up of the mechanics of it. You may also be able to see my hub mechanism. I plan to make the wheels actually turn. My hub is going to be a toilet flange.

Got both side wheel covers on today. Made the necessary adjustments to get it within the 8' 6" limit. While I wanted to make the wheels turn, I had to give up on that idea. The wood and plastic are just too flexible to hold the weight of the cover level. Eh, it's just a mockup anyway.

Here's a couple of pix. There is not enough room in the garage to get back far enough to get it all in.

Need to put the proxy tires on next and the outside bracket.

Running out of time to do much more. In June we will visit my wife's family in Hawaii for two months. I do plan to do a little work on the mockup while I'm there. I think I can use that time to fabricate the gun turret. I think that can be shipped back without costing too much.

You have made a lot of progress and solved many of the build problems.
I'm sure you will not completely waste the two months in Hawaii.
Building the gun module would be a major accomplishment.
Will you be using your 3D program to build it?

Yes, I'll use measurements from that.

Just wondering how you come up with the sizes you need for your panels. I found a chart that helps scale the size which I'll use to with my 1:6 scale tumbler and scale it up to a full size.

Mostly I am using the Moebius 1:25 model for measurements. It's in millimeters so I measure, multiply by 25, take 90% of that number (because I'm reducing the size by 10%), and convert to inches. It's not a super accurate method because sometimes it's difficult to get an exact measurement. At those time I just try to make it look right to my eye.

hey sly,
Does your DOJ Batmobile 3D program model allow for skewing.
Have you tried to run it in one of the free 3D software systems such as MESHMIXER-CURA-NETFABB?
What software system do you envision that you will ultimately run your DOJ Batmobile 3D program model on?
I've been thinking about Rhino CAM.
How accurate do you consider your DOJ Batmobile 3D program model to be in relation to the real vehicle? vertigo

I've run it on FreeCad. I'm not too good at it though. I should take some time and learn more about it because the file is very good. You can separate any part of it out and break it down. I don't know how to get it to tell me the measurements though.
