Hi guys and girls just thought i would share my project with you. I have been working with cars and all manner of vehicles for many years i enjoy accident repair etc the most. Anyway after finding this site on line i decided that Belfast Northern Ireland needs it own Tumbler replica and that i was going to be the one to do it.
Now i know it is not going to be anything as close or engineered such as some of the builds on here so i have decided to cheat a bit (forgive me in advance).
I decided to use the mr2 mk3 roadster as a base driver / space frame . The Mr2 Already has a rear mounted engine rear wheel drive and a sporty interior plus all the panels simply bolt off. I purchased the car last thursday in Scotland jumped onto ferry with it and so far i have it totally stripped i have purchased front wheels, rear wheels a jeep cherokee just to steal the stub axles/steering knuckles and a lot of black paint.
Now i dont plan to fit the twin wheel axle i will just add twin wheels to the mr2 hubs. I then plan to add cosmetic rear springs again sorry its not true to the movie car but most movies use tricks to make you believe lol.
I am going to try and manufacture the front as others have done and any help drawings etc that people would like to help me with would be very much appreciated. I work with fire service in the transport department so have lots of advice and help and a lot of very skillful friends.
I know this is my first post but what a way to introduce myself lol. By the way congratulations with all the builds i can see and read they have inspired me and consumed hours of my time there is a lot of skill out there.
Once i can figure out how to post pics i will get them up as i am hoping to have this project complete in just a couple of months.

I have been a silent member to the site for some time. From what I have seen here the members are very knowledgeable and the comradery is inspiring. In regards to your prospective build, its a very viable plan. I did something similar and used a donor vehicle to build mine. I am currently sorting out the lights and switches. My build is far from being accurate, but I think if you have the passion for getting something done that you dream for, that's what really matters.
I want to thank brcewayne and t-man for their threads. Without them I probably wouldn't have tried to do it.

Dia dhuit!
My great grandparents came to America from Belfast.
Nothing wrong with the idea of using a donor car. The mr2 is awfully small though. Do you plan on building a smaller scale tumbler or adding on to the Toyota?

hello and thanks for comments the mr2 is actually a good size it has small wheels which make it seem smaller but i am adding to it as well. It will be slightly smaller than the original. The rear wheels are 42" so not much and it will have different wheels and tyres as i have managed to obtain some from a commercial dealer near me. Its getting front nose chopped of and squared of and i am planning on getting some custom wheel spacers made and also the front arms if i can figure them out sizes etc by a local engineer.

Okay sorry been a bit of a delay in posting any info or pictures . So i have car all stripped hubs made for the rear wheel fitment on the rear of car. The front has been cut of and is now boxed in so i can mount the front arms. I am having the front arms made at the minute and i have my jeep cherokee xj hubs calipers and discs ready to go on to them.

Those are some serious looking tires. Will be interested to see how you work out the details.
