Since we are on the subject of PROXY BUILDING TECHNIQUES, might as
well cover another. Once I have stripped down my Dodge Ram 1500 donor
vehicle I will be using other aspects of the PROXY METHOD. I am
currently planning to build a proxy frame on my donor vehicle out of
wood. Once I’m satisfied with the frame design in wood, I will conform
it into steel; exchanging wood for metal. The B v S DOJ Batmobile will
require a complex, above and below frame, built around the donor Dodge
Ram’s frame. I would much rather experiment, design/re-design, and
correct my mistakes in wood than steel. This way I should only have to
cut my steel parts one time; conforming them to the fitted wood
pieces. Using PROXY building techniques in this case will not increase
the time needed to build this vehicle, rather they will shorten the
build time, if all those errors, that will surely be made, are in wood
instead of steel. I most likely will not build the wood frame to
completion, before conforming into metal, but rather complete the
PROXY wood building in logical sections, conforming them in steel as I
go along. vertigo

Vertigo’s Bat Vehicle building philosophic body of thought:
IF YOU CAN NOT BUILD IN REALITY YOU CAN PREPARE TO BUILD MENTALLY.

PREPARING TO BUILD MENTALLY includes:
Bat Vehicle builds related research
Rational reasoning: Why do I want to build a Bat Vehicle?
Bat Vehicle relevant Intellectual deficit corrections: Studying and
reading about learning to weld, how vehicle chassis are designed and
built, composites history and how to use them, etc…….
Bat Vehicle perceptual awareness; interpreting or become aware of
relevant Bat Vehicle attributes through the senses.
Conceptualization: building and improving a collective vision of your
Bat Vehicle’s possible existence.
Symbolized Realization: Starts when your Bat Vehicle begins a physical
representational existence in the real world, often in the form of
drawings, images, blueprints, on paper or digital files.
BUILDING IN REALITY:
Physical Realization: Your Bat Vehicle begins to take physical form in the physical word.

This is the best and easiest to understand summary on defining philosophy I have found.
So, exactly what is philosophy?
Philip Pecorino
“Philosophy is not a "Way of Life.” Every person does not have his or
her own "Philosophy". Philosophy is not simply a theory about
something. Nor is Philosophy a belief or a wish. Philosophy is an
activity: a quest after wisdom. Philosophy is an activity of thought.
Philosophy is a particular unique type of thought or style of
thinking. Philosophy is not to be confused with its product. What a
philosopher provides is a body of philosophic thought, not a
Philosophy. A philosopher enacts a Philosophy, a quest after wisdom.
Philosophy is a pursuit. Philosophy is an activity of thought, a type
of thinking. Philosophy is critical and comprehensive thought, the
most critical and comprehensive manner of thinking which the human
species has yet devised. This intellectual process includes both an
analytic and synthetic mode of operation. Philosophy as a critical
and comprehensive process of thought involves resolving confusion,
unmasking assumptions, revealing presuppositions, distinguishing
importance, testing positions, correcting distortions, looking for
reasons, examining world-views and questioning conceptual frameworks.
It also includes dispelling ignorance, enriching understanding,
broadening experience, expanding horizons, developing imagination ,
controlling emotion, exploring values, fixing beliefs by rational
inquiry, establishing habits of acting, widening considerations,
synthesizing knowledge and questing for wisdom.

Art remains as a discipline capable of demonstrating, representing and
encouraging values but it is not a discipline of thought, least of
all, one that is characterized by the critical and comprehensive
features of philosophical thought. Today the term "Philosophy" is
often misused. So often in fact, that the term itself has been
corrupted. Most think of Philosophy as a "way of life", "view of the
world", "theory about life", etc... The public has little conscious
appreciation for the philosophic tradition.

So, Philosophy is an activity of thought, which may become a way of
life. It is primarily a pursuit after wisdom. It is a critical and
comprehensive inquiry into the ways in which what we know can be used
to obtain what we value.”

WHO SAYS A WOODEN BODY CAR CAN’T GIVE YOU WOOD?
How about a Bat Vehicle with a wooden frame and body?
Yes, it is possible to build a high performance Bat Vehicle in wood.

Many cars have been built with wooden frames and bodies and many more
with wooden bodies covered in thin sheet aluminum. There are many high
performance airplanes still being built in woods, such as Sitka
Spruce, like the home built aerobatic Sequoia F8L FALCO. A replica
related to the Italian Marchetti 260 military trainer. Why? Wood is
strong and light and unlike metal does not fatigue or take a set from
too many G forces.

fibrous material of choice for building light cars. According to
Jalopnik readers, these are the ten coolest automobiles made out of
wood.”

Since you are going the truck frame route in a truggy like fashion, (and it appears will need an offset pumpkin in the rear) what are your thoughts on getting a truck and actually spinning it around for the rear mounted engine already having stock mounts setup, will have to modify axle placementanyway and start .the build as the back of truck frame is now the front?

Hey MaineBat,
Welcome to the forum.
There are many routes that could be followed in doing this build.
Your described route could certainly be followed.
Whatever the route selected there will be pros and cons, give and take, and plenty of obstacles and problems to overcome along the way towards completion.
The first choice that needs to be made is:
Will I build movie correct and live within the dimensions of aspect and scale restraints?
OR
Will I build a skewed replica free of rigid dimension, aspect, and restraint and how much skew (freedom) will I allow myself?
Many things are possible with a skewed build and few things are probable with a movie correct build.
I believe the DOJ Batmobile can be a much easier build to complete than a Tumbler. Or as hard as you want to make it by adding more restraints. Are you thinking about or planning to start a DOJ Batmobile. If so I hope you will do you build on this forum. vertigo

Mounts are no problem to change placement. I think axle placement needs to be changed regardless, but vert might have a better plan than mine. Here's an interesting pic of the movie car transmission and how they did it:

One guy sent me an email and suggested that I look into mobile cranes and other pieces of heavy equipment that drive to construction sites on the highways. The mobile highway crane idea seems worth exploring because if they are driving legal on highways at speed the tires must be DOT and since they are going to construction sites they must have more aggressive treads than truck treads. vertigo
