I'm not sure where to put this (1st post) so I might ask again in a different section.
Anyway I've just acquired a 29 inch long 89 batmobile kit
But the resin cast tyres are terrible so I was hoping to replace them with some RC cars ones, question is does anyone know or can work out what scale this is please. It's supposedly cast from the mold of the studio effects car used in the Axis Chemical scenes.
I'm going to try and scratch build some new ones.
The wheels themselves shouldn't be much of a problem as I can make them on a lathe, it's the tread on the tyres I'm stuck with. How is this done or whats the best way to try.
This is what I'm after.

One way I can think of, is building your own mould using the dimensions from the the tyres you have. Do this in 1/4 moulds (one quadrant each - like cake cut into quarters? ) Then make them out of what you want (urethane, latex, etc) Does that make sense?

Small parts so shouldn't be too expensive to do either. I'm sure there are others in the world like you who might like a set if you are successful. Use clay, fibreglass of whatever medium is best for you. What about researching the correct tyres then making replicas of those? They would be the ones to go for.

Hope it helps.

BTW: You know the original piece was "stolen" for a while back in the day. Someone was actually convicted too - so I gather.
